What's your estimated fargo rating if you beat 9 ball ghost more often than not?

I agree and will take the heat for saying so. I know players that are at least 50pts worse on a bigbox, some more. Hell, a LOT of players in my area would rather gargle with Draino that play a match on a 9ft. The 7ft is their comfort zone and they will not get out of it.
Better hope Mike doesn't sniff out this thread.

Racking tricks and breaking trips will only put a player over the edge of beating the ghost if they are on the borderline in skills required to do so.

Truth be told, the VAST majority of "serious" pool players, (not bangers), have no chance of beating the 9 ball ghost on any equipment. Look at your weekly 9 ball tournament, where the regulars show up week after week for years. These are all dedicated players of varying skills. How many of them would you bet on to beat the ghost, even on a Valley barbox? 5%?
Beating the ghost on a Valley is not too hard to do. I agree tho that on any 9ft its a tough ask for most any player. Here's a lil treat, the 'GOAT vs. The Ghost'

"Serious" is a subjective word. If by that you mean people that have money invested in a cue/case. Then I'd go less than 5%.

I assign "serious" to those who have obtained a fargo >625. That's not a crap on those who haven't met that threshold. However, I'm weird in that I believe anyone without physical/mental disability can achieve a pretty sporty ability in pool, IF they take it "seriously". ...and at 625, they should be threatening the ghost on even 9fters

I disagree. Results against the ghost say a lot. They don't incorporate all aspects of the game but they incorporate enough to make an accurate judgement of a player's ability/speed.

For comparison, I've included some scores below from Roy's Basement practice sessions against the ghost:

Kristina Tkach (702), 10-ball ghost: Win 11-5
James Aranas (806), 11-ball ghost: Win 11-4
James Aranas (806), 12-ball ghost: Win 7-4
Johann Chua (794), 13-ball ghost: Win 7-4

These were all done a on 9 foot diamond. I'm pretty sure the pockets are standard.
Tight pockets up in thrrre.

you play good brother. i don't want any. i'm just saying that table plays kinda soft. balls are hitting up the rail and still going. never seen ProCuts take some of those shots.

Yeah, I got the break dialed in pretty good for playing the god ghost with no ball in hand

When I lose to the God ghost it’s because I’m hooked no ball on the break or have a ridiculous shot to start out with

It’s a bar table lol
Yeah
Was gonna say it myself....It's a barbox!

Still some very strong sauce and I hope you are beating them all for the cash...which gets harder the more you show your speed.

It is funny to me how much punishment there is for better players. I know the 30th highest fargo in the US....he hates pool. Complete dead end. If you back him...he will play like a champion and never dump you. Guys like him don't get played.

On the very first rack the 4 ball and the 7 ball don't have a chance in hell of going in on my nine footer without freshly cleaned and polished balls. And I mean fresh like within a rack or two.
Yeah a couple went in like it was edited!

You will be the same fargo no matter what table you are playing on as you have an actual opponent you either defeat or lose to each game who is playing on the same equipment. Wins and loss' are the only thing fargo cares about.

This has been debated ad nauseum with Mike Page.
And there are 10,000 great barbox players who stink on 9 footers.

Bar box diamond with a magic rack. Making 2-3 balls every break gives 6 ball ghost really.

Slippery balls sliding in on fairly bad misses.

I'm a 600 I'll take your action on a different table all day long.

Sorry, I don’t have any editing skills and maybe Seyberts sold me a really loose pro cut bar table

I guess when you post you put yourself out there for criticism but it’s all good😁
I'm teasing buddy....
I already said you are a champion and I am not lying.
If you were close I would spar with you for 300 a set just to see if I can still play.

I used to own the ghost on my 9 foot Anniversary with 4.5 inch Diamonized rails. Like I said....beyond the thrill of doing it....there is no reward.
Ran 168 in straight pool
Break and run 12 racks of 8 ball on a Valley
7 pack on a 9 footer in 9 ball

Still love the game....no future in it for me cuz I been there and done that. Climbing back to what I used to do doesn't hold my interest.
I am on the downhill side of the mountain and the view is very different.

Betting versus the ghost?

Now that sounds interesting.
I expext he can still get it done more than not.
He made it look easy on the home field.

I currently play most of my pool on a 4.125" Aileex table (I posted the specs in the table thread before), but switching over to Rassons soon as the store is having a massive upgrade. I tried the ghost on the 4" Rasson when I was checking out the new store the other day, played only once and I got absolutely decimated (lost 7-1)

I was interested in getting a FargoRate, but Salotto and FR Apps have so far seemed more effort than they are worth here. I had some issues before that put me and the group of friends I was encouraging off (the dude at Salotto was very good in trying to help me out and even returned money to me). The friends who were going to form a little league with me are just using our own table/ranking now. In general, not many players here are rated, though I think they will make more efforts to be since covid has vanished from our collective memory and more players will travel again. Not to mention, MR are dipping their toes into the market here.

I am curious to get some kind of rating, but have kind of given up on FargoRate for the time being. Not enough players registered, and issues in getting results in when apps I have tried glitch. I think below is a fair assessment of how I hold up against ghost/God. Curious where that would rate?

- Playing the 9-ball ghost really isn't so bad on the Aileex (MR or old format), I would say I definitely win more than I lose. Couldn't give a percentage, but I'd be confident to take the right action. I beat 'God' a couple of times now racing to 7 with the old breaking format. I haven't in MR format yet (I was 6-2 up, and ended up losing 6-7 and that's the closest I got). But I also don't tend to play 'God' often. I played on the 4.5" Aileex for a while yesterday, and I'd take the right action against 'God' if you gave me the old break format.

- In 8-ball I can hit a 20%+ BNR against 'God' mode - 8-ball against the ghost is too easy.

- 10-ball, I don't bother playing the 'God' anymore (I get a bit weird about my break. I find my break melts every time and I get pretty frustrated about something that is never usually an issue) - as a ghost, it's just an additional ball on 9, and I've taken it down a few times.

I was just saying a 634 Fargo player can own the ghost on a 4 1/2 inch pocket bar table

I have no business playing on a 9 foot table never have

It’s tough to get a $300 set around here that’s one of the reasons I quit playing 20 years ago

I live on one lane dirt Road and there’s really no pool tournaments around us so this is my entertainment

The only reason I have a Fargo rating at all is because I went to the super billiards expo five years ago. A friend of mine wanted to experience the expo I Hadn’t played in about 14 years at that point so we went and had fun with it
