Why billiards will never be in Olympics

Pretty much this^^^^.

I'm not to keen on the Olympics, other than winter olympic hockey.
Oh, summer games = women's volleyball. I'll watch that.

Isn't archery an event? I suspect one could be fairly overweight and still shoot rather well.
It doesn't matter if it's a physical sport or a game of hand-eye coordination; it comes down to people and their agendas.Just like everything else in life, the Olympics has been bastardized and commercialized by those in control. After seeing (or rather, not seeing) the opening ceremony, we now know a lot more about those behind the scenes. I remember when Chicago was in the running for the Olympics a few years back, and tons of money was spent courting the committee. It's a huge revenue generator for any city that hosts it. They want viewers, and sorry, pool isn't it.

couldn't care less. pool doesn't need the olympics.

i pick and choose from the olympics. table tennis, handball, beach volley. used to play table tennis at a fairly high junior level, and my country now has a tremendous player that just eliminated the world no 1 (a chinese ofc). he, truls moregardh, could become the first non-chinese winner in 32 years.

Article discusses why pool /billiards/cue sports will likely never be in Olympics. For sure will be big boost to the sport if it ever gets in.
But I stopped watching the Limp-ics after the entertaining Carl Lewis/Ben Johnson track field era. Just dumb that a whole team in team sports can only win 1 medal while a gymnast or a swimmer alone can win half dozen or more medals :ROFLMAO:
The WCBS must be recognized globally as the standard for rules and regulations. No sport can be included in the Olympics without an established set of universally accepted rules.

Agreed...pool doesn't need the Olympics. Pool is in a better state than ever IMO, maybe even too high.. Hopefully we can sustain the current level.

I completely agree with you. It's a shame that pool/billiards/cue sports are unlikely to be included in the Olympics, as it would be a huge boost to the sport. And I'm with you on the medal system, it's unfair that team sports are limited to one medal while individual athletes can win multiple medals.

It is not a sport because it needs to have some sort of physical challenge. A fat guy can play pool.

Now if you were to do 100m sprints to a pool table and shoot a rack, run another and repeat then it may be an Olympic sport.
Funny how this logic is completely abandoned when it comes to hating trans people.

I guess you want it both ways. Pool is not a sport when that argument is convenient but somehow men have a physical advantage when you need virtue signal.

I don’t care either way but pick a side already.

Take your trans crap to NPR.

Nobody wants to hear your nonsense.

Uh oh.. NPR is leaking.

Individuals can compete in more than one event...swimming how many races???100m, 200m, backstroke, breaststroke , etc. Gymnastics much the same, uneven parallel bars, pommel horse,
How many events can the basketball or hockey teams compete in??? Easy answer, one.

well you have to show some sort of physical feat for it to be a sport. The body has to be involved in some way. Even curling involves movement of the body. Pool not so much.

So there’s no physical feat or physical superiority to pool?

Is there a physical feat in shooting or archery?

Well they are now wearing tight pants that go down to their ankles so the thongs are gone from what I read lol
I watched a little at the pool hall the other day. One team wore pants, the other wore the typical skimpy outfits I am accustomed to seeing.

Good grief. Saying a fat guy can play pool = trans hate in Bishop's book.
Can anyone make a post without hurting your feelings and prompting you to bring in your virtue signalling hero complex?
There are probably message boards about what you are trying to inject into this thread. Go find them.

I don’t know about it deserves being there. We can make an argument as why we want it there but it’s not deserving at all.

Are you talking about the powerlifting with bigger people or fat people? There’s not many sports that have fat people in the Olympics.

They are trying through perception. We now have professional or competition equipment and sporty pool cases. The days of aristocratic and hustling image is almost gone.

Competition jerseys are great too.
The Olympic Weightlifting athletes are all ripped to shreds, except for the unlimited weight category. Without a weight restriction, a fat person (that trains like they do) has more overall muscle and can lift more weight.

What was the drama this year? I only watched about 5 minutes thus far. Dad had the TV on it while I walked by. Saw a few min of gymnastics and synchronized diving.

His argument is inconsistent with arguments previously made.

If pool is not a sport and there are no “feats” performed or physical challenges(his words not mine).

Then there shouldn’t be an argument that trans people have an unfair advantage.

But for the sake of clarity I have long been an advocate for protecting women’s sports. Born males should compete with born males not females.

But there’s nothing egregious with pointing out his lack of consistency.
