Fedor vs SVB score

More good stuff here. SBC knows! When you're in dead stroke (old school term) you aren't thinking any more, just playing. You see the shot, you shoot. No wasted time or motion, just get up there and play pool. That was Earl in his prime, always looked like he was on cruise control.
No lie Jay
After I started working on my game maybe 20 hours a week while still playing and gambling, making weaknesses stronger and working on my break ...
I beat a guy 7 to 0 after winning the coin flip to break for $10.
I didn't really realize it until I was breaking the 7th rack and just hoping I threw a ball and could see the 1st shot so I could get a chance to run that 7th rack

I thought Bustamante Saud years ago his high run was 6.
Mine was on your typical gold crown II with 5 inch pockets.

They can't win from the chair

What do people thing of the RACK GENERATOR
they are using to select the way they must rack in thr magic rack?

They put it up on the video wall barrier making the players arena....so as they look up thry and the crowd see it.

I never saw it...and my mind was blown.

That's probably why both spent so long practicing the break. There's only one ball they can count on to control.

They are both using the same break, breaking from the same exact spot with the same exact cue angle. Fedor is actually hitting it pretty hard all things considered--many a league player would be ecstatic with such a break--but it still pales in comparison to the way Shane is crushing them.

As much as I admire Shane's game, I would never count Fedor out! This guy is a true Champion player, who has come with his best stuff when he really needed it. And he's done it against all the best players on the planet. He may lose but he will be digging in tomorrow. He ain't no quitter!
Can’t count either of them out.

I had fedor a small favorite, only because of the format. Shorter format I’d have called it a coin flip or maybe had Shane the favorite by the thinnest margin.

Shane has been playing imo his best pool the last couple years only by a hair.

So far my estimation has been wrong, his age isn’t showing up. Ofc he’s not that old but when your age starts with a “4” funny things can happen in rotation games. Unless your name is Ronnie and you play snooker.

I’m super glad the got this game down and it’s happening.

Shane works harder than any champion I’ve ever known or seen. He’s certainly paid his dues twice. 🫡

By all appearances I believe he’s going to close this out and win. Will he win more games on the last day? Not sure, I hope he does.

What’s really interesting is what happens next time they play? Is this the start of something like the Alex P action? I hope so! I’ve always been a firm believer that action drives pool. At least the version of pool I like.

While I don’t know Fedor he has had my respect as a player for a good bit of time now and his future certainly looks great.

And as Jay noted “I’m back” for a bit. 😉

It’s good to be back! The pool family will always be family. If ya know, then ya know.

What kind of odds on the money do you need to bet Fedor wins from here?
Your 500 to my 600
I need a big score to retire.
Not kidding I will bet and post with Jason L or Patrick O. (Ideologist)
6/5 is a pretty thin price considering you are getting 200 players and I got 2(who are all wore out and tired)

Let’s not derail this thread with this.

But I’ll negotiate something.

My action is good around here 😉, I like being a ATM

Oh yeah. That's how it used to be way back when. $5 9-Ball until someone drops. I played a lot of all nighters to get the money. The funny thing is that when you play until your worn out is when you make the biggest improvements in your game. Something clicks when your shooting and it feels good. It could be really minor like a little different placement of your front or back foot, or how far back you take your cue, or moving it an inch or so away from your body. You just realize whatever it is you did makes it easier for you to make the shots. You just moved up half a speed!

I always tell people that if you want to improve your game then play some long (6-8 hour) sessions with another good player. You will dig in after awhile and take advantage of every opportunity. The last time I ever played like that was with my friend Ming Ng, probably 25 years ago. We would play Races to Nine, just like her tournament matches, and it would get intense after awhile. She hated it when I beat her. We might play four or five (or more) races and both our games improved.
Spot on Jay!

I can’t add anything else.

Ming could play too.

Agreed if you don't play stiff competition ( or giving up the nuts in handicap) while betting something, you aren't going to even know how much those little things matter....
-Like making the money ball and running the cueball up top in case you miss
-Getting a cueball within a balls worth of the rail when playing safe
Basically as I tell everyone " Rule #1, Don't sell out", basically make them beat you to get in your wallet.
Rule #1 in pool will always be "make the ball first!" As long as you make the ball you're still at the table (and in control) of the game. Too many times I've seen players (all of them!) get careless on a relatively simple shot while focusing on their position play. They get shape but miss the shot!

I get this...but who ever used it?
I never saw it.

You could see SVB and Fedor raising their head while racking to look at the layout on the screen. It looked like the players trusted each other and weren’t double checking.

Water is not compressible, how would it make rubber more bouncy?
To answer your question: A minor physics lesson...
Rubber rails absorbing moisture due to humidity tend to get more rigid due to heavier water content. You are right: WATER is not compressible, SO when a ball hits a rail there is no compression of that rail. The rail compression takes some speed off of the ball, but when filled with a higher content of water due to humidity no compression means no loss of speed. The ball "bounces" off of the rail as a result.

This might be true. It might not. Something else is at work when the humidity rises. The cloth gets stickier. The braking effect off the cushions is greatly diminished. Ball hits the cushion it reverses direction and roll more quickly; instantaneously by comparison.

I don't want to start a discussion here.
Yes, "wetter" cloth due to humidity will make it thicker and thus slow a balls speed. There are many factors effecting a balls speed; some slow it down, some will speed it up.
Back to the original thread topic.

is that why the conventional wisdom about the tables play "short" when its wet outside?
