What is it, that they do to make it a favorite. I know Matlock from OK is attending.I really do want to play in one of these events. They have been my favorite tournaments to watch.

I love that it's bar table 8-ball. And they're on a shot clock that forces them to play relatively quick. Sometimes you're lucky enough to watch a shootout, but I think I've only seen one of those since they've been playing these tournaments in the states. What is it, that they do to make it a favorite. What determines when the shoot out situation occurs?
Races to 7 take longer than 40 minutes.
Are there situations where the players "work the clock"? There was a fair amount of clock working at the recent heyball championship in Quincy.i think it occurs when 40 minutes are up and score is even.
the time constraint is the whole deal, it makes a boring game fast and exciting. i usually can't stand barbox pool, on either side of the atlantic, but this format is actually very entertaining. it even had hennessy playing at a decent pace
Which reminds me of an interesting time-wasting technique. This is said to have actually have been used in a 3C tournament which had a time limit on matches (for TV).Hard to believe it wouldn't be in play.
Example...
Your up 4-2 with 8 minutes left and it's your shot.

Yup. The players definitely work the clock when it's tight and there is less than two minutes left. The guy with the lead will take every second off the clock even if he has a relatively easy run out.there is a shot clock in addition to match clock, but yea probably occurs. heyball should in theory be easier to work the clock because it's easier to play safe
Does the opponent start your30 second table interval, or do you you handle it when you get up from your chair?
i'm not sure that was the case in louisianan? im pretty sure they mentioned non-streamed matches having clockThe regular games (off the TV table) weren’t timed at the KC Open. It was a good lesson in patience for me to see Bergman and Styer and their slow play in person. I would play better if I could emulate their methodical approach.
Is this the Tom Cousins that everyone raves about in the English 8 Ball world? Been meaning to see him play as I've heard nothing but great things.
Well, now maybe we know the _real_ story. He must have some exclusive contract with Ultimate Pool and was not allowed to do other tournaments. Is this the most Justin Bergman has travelled for pool events in the last five years? He's been at every one of ultimate pool usa's tournaments.
Not sure but I may know more tomorrow. With any luck I plan on attending part of the day.Are all those bar boxes coin or card only, or do they open them up during the day for hourly rates?
