no. banks is an american game. they don't play it anywhere else in any #'s. even in the us its always been a regional specialty game as stu said.

Agreed that the change in ball colors that Matchroom introduced with its new tour in 2022 necessitates that the commentator say "the red three" rather than just "the three" but I'm saying I wish they hadn't switched ball colors and then this would have been unnecessary.

In other words, you are absolutely right here.

Yeah, the clustering I noticed was grim on occasion. I wondered why they weren't just beating the ever living hell out of it from a straighter line. But then maybe they were just trying to keep it interesting

That's higher than I would have guessed but I imagine you're right. It's funny to see how many people in the pool world consider 8 ball on a 9'er "too easy," though (even for themselves). And I know that virtually none of the complainers are within even 100 points of 760 (and likely not even within 200).

If you’re a 700 and can’t spank the hell out of the ghost then you have no business being ranked that high. Big difference though between 4.5” pockets and 4”. At 4” I would think a 740 would trash the ghost.

Yes, but the question as posed to me did not pertain to ghost play. I was asked at what Fargo is 8-ball too easy for the pros on a 9-footer, and I'm staying with my answer of 760.

You, sir, are a very wise man. Nobody can be surprised that the team with Han Yu (Fargo 784), who is on the short list of the best female players of all time, won this. Siming Chen (Fargo 785) didn't play in this.
 
These announcers are so boring. It's too much to say they are sucking life out of this event, but they certainly aren't increasing the excitement.
 
they are full of cliches and rehearsed
sayings and tired old repetitive statements
and always saying the same old thing and
going on and on about nothing and filling
the time with useless chatter and making
constant small talk with intelligent catch
phrases to make it sound like they know
something about pool and just stating the
obvious like we’re all children

Agreed. The event is such a good one that even these absolutely terrible commentators are not enough to ruin it. Excepting at a regional tour event, I've never heard worse commentary than this.
 
As expected, the cream rose to the top and Filler will meet Gorst in tomorrow's grand final. So far, they have met twice, with Filler winning at 10 ball and Gorst winning at 8ball. They didn't face each other in 9ball.

It should make for some great viewing and is a fitting climax to an outstanding event.

you have to weigh in the shot clock as well, not just pocket size.

the ultimate pool events take it to an extreme with 30 seconds that later becomes 15 seconds after a certain match duration. top players like bergman and melling will still play pretty much flawless but low 700's aren't certain to run out more often than not
