Because the purpose of a tourney is not to be equally fair to every single competitor. It's to make a good presentation for viewers, in order to grow the sport. The TV table 1000% should always have a shot clock, regardless of what the other tables have.Good question, lol. And why should matches on a single table be different than the other 40 tables? It isn't like these matches are televised to "regular" audiences, or having to do commercial breaks.
Last year, or maybe 2 years ago, they tried to hold Sky to the shot clock on the TV table and he basically told them to eff off, lol.Because the purpose of a tourney is not to be equally fair to every single competitor. If it works or not, that's another topic![]()
Pockets are not the same size on tv table vs other tables?Last year, or maybe 2 years ago, they tried to hold Sky to the shot clock on the TV table and he basically told them to eff off, lol.
They should _all_ have a shot clock, or none of them. And yes, it should be equally fair as much as possible to every competitor. They also shouldn't have different size pockets on the TV table vs the outer tables.
This isn't showing on TV, it is streaming. The audience is captive already.
Maybe not at Derby this year, but it happens often at other tournaments.Pockets are not the same size on tv table vs other tables?![]()
If the player is down on the shot, the clock going to zero is ignored. If he is not down on the shot, the extension is automatically applied and announced. If he has used the extension, he is warned at 10 seconds. Can someone share insight what is the purpose of the tv arena DCC shot clock screen counting down from 30s but it seems it doesn’t have any effect on the match at all.
Also if the player is down on the shot and have used their extension if they raise back up it’s a clock violation. If the player is down on the shot, the clock going to zero is ignored. If he is not down on the shot, the extension is automatically applied and announced. If he has used the extension, he is warned at 10 seconds.
I think this is a good way to do the clock.
I wish everyone would do shot clocks this way.If the player is down on the shot, the clock going to zero is ignored. If he is not down on the shot, the extension is automatically applied and announced. If he has used the extension, he is warned at 10 seconds.
I think this is a good way to do the clock.
I just measured some tables. The TV table is the same as the other tables at 4.5 inches. Or maybe 4.45 based on my previous experience at DCC. Two balls just reach the flat of the facing.Pockets are not the same size on tv table vs other tables?![]()
Two balls go past the points?? If so that's over 4.5 If 4.5 two balls should freeze on their equators on the points.I just measured some tables. Thanks for the clarification. If the player is down on the shot, the clock going to zero is ignored. If he is not down on the shot, the extension is automatically applied and announced. If he has used the extension, he is warned at 10 seconds.

It would take a lot extra people (probably refs) if there were going to be shot clocks on all tables.Last year, or maybe 2 years ago, they tried to hold Sky to the shot clock on the TV table and he basically told them to eff off, lol.

Well then, they shouldn't require it on a single table then. Either get refs and timekeepers for all tables, or quit making them perform differently under 1 unique table/situation.It would take a lot extra people (probably refs) if there were going to be shot clocks on all tables.
Yeah it’s beyond stupid to do it on only 1 table.Well then, they shouldn't require it on a single table then. Either get refs and timekeepers for all tables, or quit making them perform differently under 1 unique table/situation.
