Seller shipped cue via USPS on the 13th, but it is seemingly still not in transit. Just shows Accepted by USPS.

A member here mailed me a cue ball USPS and it took 14 days to arrive- the item bounced between two post offices in Georgia for a full week! I live in Florida. - I NEVER use USPS for any packages --- not sure if it is their employees or their internal routing systems that cause all of this misery- could be both- I just don't know- I gave up on the post office for the past 5 years or so and never looked back regarding package mailings.

Update: The package arrived today, at my local city, and now shows Out for Delivery. I am so happy, and relieved, lol. But, there were only 2 updates. Scanned as Accepted, to Arrived at Destination 5 days later, and then Out for Delivery. No updates along the way. Not even a update saying that it was In Transit. At least with UPS, which also has horrible tracking, it assures you that the package is in transit. I did not even get that much assurance from USPS. Thanks for reading.

I know this is not really pool related, but I have had such horrible luck with usps over the years, that I have never wanted to use them when shipping or receiving anything pool related, which is all I would be doing anyways, either shipping or receiving a pool cue.

This guy takes 4 days to ship out a cue that I ordered from him, and then ships it usps, because he told me that was the only option available to him.

And now, the package is seemingly not even in transit.

It just says Accepted, and has remained in that status since last Friday.

I am afraid that it has been lost.

I just find it so strange that there have been no new scans of the package ever since it was Accepted on the 14th.

Just so angry, because I have been without a pool cue, and was really hoping to receive this cue by Monday.

I know that nothing can be done. Just be patient, and hopefully some type of updates scan will come up on the system.

Anyways, this is why I never use usps, and have only used them on a few occasions, over the years, when I had to ship to a Post Office Box.

Even on those occasions though, I think I woukd rather use a service like FedEx Ground Economy, to ship to a PO Box, where it is at least in FedEx hands until it gets to the local town that it is going to, to be transfered to usps hands.

Anyways, I am just so bummed. I am afraid this package has been lost, or stolen, or who knows. Why other reason would they have for not be scanning it at each new stop?

Thanks for reading my rant..

Again, I hate USPS. Seems that they have employees that do not take their jobs too seriously. I don't know. I understand that they have to sort through millions of mail items every day, at every local facility, and for reasons Unknown, things get lost.
Shipping updates are pretty shit anymore. USPS delivers but good luck trying to figure out where it's at. Sometimes they update, sometimes they don't. I will only ship with them or UPS as I've had FedEx absolutely destroy 3 or 4 shipments. I would not send anything valuable or breakable through them.

USPS has gone downhill for a long time now.

Is it even a law against stealing mail? It seems that nothing is done against those that steal mail and packages. Whether it be internally or externally.

No longer a federal crime?
Nothing is a crime today. Nothing...maybe the way I play pool

why do they have to give updates on where your package is.

do you expect them to do that with letters also.
Does a standard letter have a tracking number assigned to it?? No.

Does a package have a tracking number assigned to it?? Yes. Does the cost of shipping that item include the assigned tracking number?? Yes. The assigned tracking number is there so the package can be, tada, TRACKED!!! Not only can the seller and receiver track the package, but the shipping company uses that number to track the package also.

If you ever want to ship something with a major carrier/service and they do not or will not assign a tracking number to your item do not do business with them.

USPS is and has been in a bad way for quite some time and I'd only use them as a last resort to ship any thing remotely valuable. It's not so much that I'm worried about things going missing as everything I've sent or ordered eventually shows up. It's just that they're unreliable when it comes to any kind of tracking or delivery schedule. Hell, I've had numerous things show as "out for delivery" at 9:00 in the morning only to show up the next day.

The most impressive route I've had anything take was a print sample I sent out for work. I sent it from Dayton, Ohio to Mentor, Ohio. For those of you you not familiar with Ohio geography, that's about a four hour drive from southwest Ohio to northeast Ohio. It showed up in Mentor about ten days later with a postmark from Philadelphia on it. Now, I realize they don't put my package in a truck and drive it straight to my chosen destination. But how on earth did it manage to go almost nine hours due east to Philly, then almost seven hours BACK to Mentor?
Yep. I mailed something to a destination that was literally two hours away. It took 8 days for the package to be delivered. I was charged $35.00 for "priority shipping." Never again. I called USPS while the package was "in transit." To her credit, the woman that I spoke with was extremely polite, professional, and helpful.

their tracking sucks and the current express time is about 10 business days. If you want peace of mind use UPS if possible

I had the same experience with USPS not too long ago. The buyer was checking with me to find out where his package was and I finally found out that it was still en route to it's destination. That was after two days of checking with the post office. I went into the post office where it was sent from and the next day I was informed that my package was still en route. That was all. And guess what, the next day it arrived at it's location. Only took ten days from California to Ohio! P.S. It was shipped via Priority Mail and given an expected delivery of 3-4 days. The post office has gone to shit in this country in the last couple of years!

No thanks, I'll stick with Fedex (my favorite) or UPS in the future. The USPS can handle my letters. That is what they are good for. Packages nope!

I just had one shipped from FL. The delivery date was 3 days out. All of sudden "your package has been delayed." When it finally showed up in tracking a few days later, it was in Puerto Rico! It spent some vacation days there and finally ended up here over 2 weeks after shipping! I remember when working for the postal service was a sought after job that people lined up in droves to apply for.

I didnt read this entire thread so forgive me if already mentioned but in my experience there is a product I think it may be caklled ready post which is some sort of a hybrid and the bottom line is that the tracking remains a mystery with no entries or maybe just that a lable was made or that the phg wass dropped off at an "agent" (hence the hybrid 3rd party involvement) then no updates until far too long then out of nowhere it comes up as being Out For Dely. Pretty much what you described.

Horribe service option. I think some sellers choose this because its the cheapest option snd it shows.

Glad your pkg arrived.

I am now waiting on two cues and three cases. USPS sucks.

One thing a colleague suggested: Make sure I don't have MD after my name. It makes the package a target.

The post office has gone to shit in this country in the last couple of years!

UPS shipping fees have gone haywire....
Our accountant told us not ship any important paperwork to him by USPS
FedX is another not so economical shipper.
We are in trouble

I shipped some car parts via USPS from Florida to Texas. OK, I'll admit, the box was heavy.

It went from FL to TX, then to OH (IIRC), then to northern FL, then TX, then tracked as lost. Attempts to find out its status went something like this: Call USPS, I am told I need to contact the post office from where it originally shipped. Ever tried calling a local post office? Went in person, and they told me I had to call the number where those people told me to contact my local post office, that once it leaves the local office, they had no way to find out where it is.

The package did actually arrive at its destination about six weeks later. Oh, no, it wasn't the box that arrived. It was JUST THE SHIPPING LABEL. The only thing they delivered was the friggin' piece of paper, the label I had affixed to the box!

That said, I think USPS does a pretty decent job with first class mail and "if it fits it ships" using USPS-provided boxes.

why do they have to give updates on where your package is.

Tracking is a service that is paid for. Not providing a service that is paid for could easily be interpreted as fraud. The packages are tracked internally in their systems anyway. The service merely provides access to that data.

if you paid extra for tracking yes. if its part of the deal all they have to do is the best they can.

there have been terrible weather delays this winter so has screwed up lots of routes.

there has also been a two new delivery things that went into effect in 2021 and after that. one was something like delivery for america which slows things down.

its costs more but there are one day or two day options that cost more that gets your package there quicker. and if not refunded postage.

but a human also looks at your printed address and most i see are hardly readable without effort. so that can hamper how things go.

its a crowded world now and everyone is cutting costs and labor so we have to live with it.

USPS will be revamped and firing 10k employees. Hopefully they will go back to what they once were. Nowadays with paperless system, they just deliver you junk mail. Anything of importance can be pulled up on demand through their website.

A word about USPS priority boxes....

They are now made of thick toilet paper. I use strapping tape in all three directions around the box. Up to three passes in each direction -- two at the edges and one in the middle of each face.

Someone sent me a bunch of magazines in a bunch of medium-size priority boxes -- that mags fit perfectly but were pretty heavy. Nearly every box was damaged. Some never arrived. Some arrived as just the box.

But the worst was not by USPS, but I don't remember which one to blame. Someone shipped me several large boxes of books. Along the way, someone decided the boxes were too heavy to lift and they had no hand truck, so they rolled the boxes. All the boxes arrived without any corners -- they were round. ... The horror is now coming back to me. I remember going down to the depot to pick them up. It was UPS.

USPS has been last on the list for deliveries. The only reason why I would use them is to prevent internal theft and even that is happening. Its a federal crime, so it made me feel a lot easier, about using them. Till mail theft started becoming a thing. When they get caught nothing happens. Who is to say they "lost" your package.

I got a cue case! It only took 17 days. (n)

I am now waiting on two cues and two cases.

USPS sucks.

I just received a cue from usps, new Jersey to UK took 14 days.
Its normally bit quicker, just depends how long it's in customs, once it gets into the country.
With all the storys of cues, being stolen. Its a very nervous wait. As you see it, pass through the network.
