Super billiards expo 2025

Well i hope people will post Photo of their purchases, and comment on anything new & exciting in accessories.🙏

Had 30 hours of action in 2.5 days. Thursday I put in about 15 hours....untold about of sets. I bring the action to this event for bangers like me....no champions allowed.

Mostly playing race to 5, winner break. For 200 to 500 a set.

If it goes hill hill Stop and Double the bet. Always exciting because when you get to 4 you can't lose and if you are down....you fight hard to tie.

No problems ever with the 8 so guys I played....all gentlemen. Calling our own fouls. A 25 year old guy told me I didn't mark my first game after winning my 2nd eack. So its 2 to 2....and we ended up tied for that set for 400. Played for 800. Good karma for him. He player pretty sporty.

I bailed Friday night at 11pm cuz I couldn't get a table in the action room and the woofing was intolerable. I made 2800 and played everyone the way I wanted to and all my matches were competitive. Home by 7am after a 2 hour roadside nap midway home....otherwise I would have been driving asleep if I didn't.

Now to the Open.
I'd won 2 matches and playing the 3rd. Drew a guy who had $178 in equipment in total...but he had a 2k game. Practiced mechanics, fluid...like a Roman god. He beat me 5 to 1 or 2in the first set, .all good.

2nd set early on I shot a safe 2 inches from the 3 which is a half inch off the rail. I hit the paint and the 3 rocks and went back to where it was....cueball 3 rail up table. The guy is lording over me as I shoot and calls foul. No it's not. He gets smart and I say well buddy call goes to the shooter....knowing it was a hit. From there guy is a total dick. I win set two 5 to 1 playing as slow as I can because I wanted to dethroat this guy.

He says we gotta lag for break on set 3. No buddy I'm flipping. He objects. Go to TD Cici...rules say flip is the default. Heads for me.

He scratches to get himself on 2 fouls and I put up the peace sign to indicate he's on 2 because of course he's wearing earbuds. He says I can't tell him he's on 2 found Until After I Shoot???
I 35 years of pool, over 20 SBEs, owning a room and a million hours watching pool....never heard that one. I'm like buddy you gotta get your game outta the basement.

Now I'm playing slower than a turtle just because the rules say I can. I get him 4 to 2...need 5. He wind one. 4 to 4. He safes himself with 3 balls the table....all 4 balls kind of nearby in a line off the side pocket. The 6 is a in off the middle of the side hole. He kicks to end rally, grazes the side rail and 6 goes down the rail to the corner...never touched a rail. He's out. Hill hill.

I'm like F it...shake his hand and say good luck. I think I ran front of the rack and played safe. He hit it and got me. I hit the ball, but sell out....and he ran 5 balls to win. I'm out of the open.

After his buddy on the rail, a 70 plus year old AA preacher says I hit the 3 on my safety. I look at my opponent who didn't apologize or show the least bit of remorse. Again total douching.

As bad as I've been in these games I still urge people to try and be the bigger person. Know that anything your opponent does Is Only a Move If You Let It Bother You. That's one of the toughest lessons to learn, but learn it....it will make you a stronger player.

Glad you overall had a great time and left with some cxash.

It's inevitable if playing big tourneys like SBX we will run into bad actors.

Mine was maybe 7-8 SBX'a ago, I was playing the amateur open and a brash young pony-tailed guy tried to award himself a rack that he never won and it got so contentious thAt we both had to go to the TD desk and we were both giving our sides of it and my opponent finally tells her that his friend, Russian Kenny wastched the whole thing and can vouch for him., The TD immerdiately said I win.

You cant make this shit up. Just the funniest....

I just saw the Pro Event bracket. Allen has always played it a weird way, but I'm surprised he kept it up now that this is a WNT ranking event.

First, its alt break, completely against everything MR is doing.
Second, the draw for stage 2 is simply a continuation of stage 1. The winners keep playing each other (whoever they would have played if there was no stage 2). The losers now all go to the winner's side on stage 2, and they also simply continue playing each other. I believe every other 2 stage event has the 1 loss side paired with a winner's side, when the stage 2 draw is made.

Very weird format, IMO.

Also IMO, this is the strongest field I ever remember in Hopkin's event. Perhaps it was about as strong in the late 90's, I simply can't remember.

And before anyone gets upset, Hopkin's definition of an amateur was always WAY higher than the rest of us. Something about FargoRate 745 by today's standards.

Russian Kenny is trash....

Years back, I give the guy a ride to his hotel and buy him breakfast on the way. Then after losing his ass in the quarter flipping Olympics, he hits me up for $100.

I called him a few weeks after looking for the money. He refuses to pay me....implying he can choke me out if I don't like it (he's a MMA guy and a legend in his own mind). I told him to F himself, take his wife to dinner on me and buy his kid a pair of shoes.....he never says a word to me for years since so he might have a conscience or he's all bark.

And still owes me $100.

Did I tell you I like 3c?

I also like the posts here about it, ira too!
I caught Ira hanging around the only billiard table in the entire expo.

Why is this table different from all other tables?
For those who celebrate, Happy Passover.
