Haven’t we been told countless times our government is raking in tens of billions of dollars from these other countries, especially China, because of the tariffs recently enacted? Well, if that is true, keep in mind that you are paying the tariff,
not the importing nation. Tariffs are paid by the consumer when they purchase the item here in the USA. The country
importing the goods is not charged any fee or tariff for merely bringing the goods or merchandise into the USA. Those
goods enter our borders without paying any tariff which is actually never paid until the consumer buys the item and the tariff then gets added to the price of the item. You, the consumer, are paying the tariff when you buy the goods. The originating country doesn’t pay for the tariff. As consumers, you and I actually pay the actual tariff, not China or the the country of origin.
Label it a tariff but it is basically added sales tax that is supposed to make the price higher and less appealing than equivalent goods made in the USA not subject to the tariff. You pay the tariff when you buy the item. When you are told by our government how much money we take in from tariffs is not admitting the truth. As consumers, we pay for every tariff dollar collected when you purchase the item, The country of origin doesn’t pay even a penny thus making you pay a much higher price than before the tariff was enacted. And this is supposed to be good.
