Heading to Denver for work next month. Will have downtime in the evenings. Any good poolhalls? Googling looks like Felt is decent, but want some reviews from players.
The Gabriels Rafale 2.0s at GK play so nice!as far as the casual downtown spots go, wynkoop is IMHO by far the best that i have tried. equipment is in decent shape (mostly 9" GC3s) and i've never had to wait for a table (only been a couple times ymmv). tarantula has pretty run down equipment and is very rowdy. long waits for tables too.
another couple no one has mentioned are :
GK Billiards: (no food or drink offered there) very well lit, lots of carom tables, only 9 foot pool tables. dynasphere or aramith balls. simonis cloth
Vihn's Son: (cash only) huge space, lots of tables pool and carom, good homey vibe. good vietnamese food and cheap beer. table rate is also pretty cheap.
What was wrong with felt? I was there not too long ago. Hit some around on one of the 9 foots for a few hours. Seemed fine to me. Although, they don't give you a cool carrying case for the balls like PiazzasI went to Felt and Piazza's a couple months ago while in Denver. Piazza's is better. Felt used to be awesome, but when I went in there this time it was sad.
It was too dirty. The cloth on the tables was worn out, the balls were dirty, the table was dirty... Couldn't even get a tight rack. I spent 20 minutes in there and wanted to go. I went there maybe ten years ago and it felt really upscale. It was disappointing. Maybe I caught them on a bad week? What was wrong with felt? I was there not too long ago. I’ve never been to any parlor with so many billiard tables. I could play there for the rest of my life and never miss pocketing a pool ball. How envigorating to see 3 cushion flourishing. It is my favorite game and the hardest game to master too.
They have a ball polisher next to the register, theyd be happy to clean the balls for ya if you felt they were too dirty. as for the cloth, they replace it fairly regularly but you probably caught em at the end of the cycle. It was too dirty. The 9 foot Gold Crowns are gone replaced by 9 foot Diamonds.Piazza has one 9' Diamond (unless you count the "owner's table").
Good luck getting either in the evening.
Plenty of Diamond bar boxes, full bar and great kitchen.
I haven't been to Felt for a long time, but they also had a decent kitchen and a half dozen Diamond 9'ers and a few Gold Crowns, plus Diamond bar boxes.
Action both.

a lot of 9ball gets played there and the spots get worn out quick. the plastic warped triangle racks arent helping either, but i bring my own template or v-rack so that doesnt bother me.
I would urge you to give the place another try, But perhaps its not for everyone.
