World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

You see this in a minor way when players clean the cue ball while they are preparing to break. Typically they spin it against the cushion. In a refereed match, the ref normally cleans the cue ball and If there is a ref around, I think he should be the only one who cleans the cue ball, even between racks.
Yapp shared with me this was part of event-specific rules for the PLP this year.

See "Unsportsmanlike Conduct" #2 and #3.

What I'm saying is there were no women at 9-ball WPCs that were intended for men. For some 30 years since I started to follow. I'm fine with what you call an "open" event, but let me tell that as long as a "9-ball women WC" exist, please keep the same for men. Who won't have to be dealing with women or kids.
Every sport is like that. There isn’t a single pro or even amateur ( high school and college ) sport that men play in that women can’t. But there are women’s sports that men can’t play in for a reason. Women don’t play in men’s sports not because they aren’t allowed but because physically they can’t. That goes right into why trans women shouldn’t be playing in women’s sports.

On another note I’m not sure pool is a game that given enough time women won’t catch up to men. It’s not physical like basketball or football etc.

It's the mentality. I'm not really a fan of women's pool except Easton because she plays like a guy and thinks like one. I've seen her play the professional women and they are playing not to lose. While Easton would take risks to win. She even confuses the women commentators who play pool. Especially when they predict what she's going to do and she does something else. This is one big difference in a sport that doesn't really involve athletic ability. The mental game.

The always say she has a specific style of play -or- a style of play. She plays like a seasoned male professional player.

Just an observation.

The filipinos were absolutely sucking in this new format and it's no secret that they are quite often angle shooters. I have no direct knowledge of anything but I wouldn't doubt it.

not really. few of them travelled during the pandemic, and when it opened up it was a slow trickle of asian players coming, and sometime there MR changed break rules. add to that visa problems and relatively low prize funds until last year. that the most pool playing nation on earth was gonna practice like hell and get results when MR threw a 1000000 prize fund world championship is hardly surprising

My guess is that Yapp is going to end up regretting making such a public accusation (regardless if it's true or not)...if Yapp hasn't regretted it already. It's a lose-lose situation airing this out in public. If you think something nefarious is going on, talk to MR and the tournament director privately. Don't post the accusation publicly on FB.

This.

We've seen it far too many times when players use social media to air their frustrations.

Yeah, sounds like a bunch of sour milk to me. I find it really hard to believe someone would do that in this circumstance. If they are, however, they should be banned for life.

When the score was 9-9, Casper running out on Shane, right before he shot the 6 ball, he stopped and looked over to his right. Then he slammed the chalk on the rail three times. What happened? Does anybody know? Did somebody try to shark him?

Taka Images walked up to Casper and asked to take some photos. Matchroom guy walks up to him and says, "Big Win." Casper replies, "Yeah, probably the biggest one of my career."
