My team captain doesn’t consider league play to be a friendly game. Paying attention is part of the game. I don’t like losing on technicalities, but the rules are the rules.

For one-on-one friendly games, I would tell the other player.
 
What rotation game is 50 points? Putting that aside for a moment, the answer to your question is no. First, if it's a World Championship Final, then there is a referee presiding at the table. Would the referee tell the player they're shooting the wrong ball? Of course not. It's unethical for a referee to help a player. It's also inappropriate for a player to interfere with his opponent while at the table.

Thankfully we don't have team captains on the two leagues I play. One is a three person team, and one a two person team, both leagues you play your opponent individually with no coaching from teammates allowed.
Both leagues are very well run and everyone gets along great most always.
The better players will always remind you first if it looks like you may be screwing up, the not so good players, will just let you screw up. Each their own I guess, I would personally never watch and let someone foul in league play with out saying something first.

I haven’t played in league since before the pandemic. Our TAP league had money payouts at the end of the year and every other year one team won a trip to TAP Nationals. As a team member, our responsibility was to help the team win more games while following the rules. As a corollary to the original question, in league play, I don’t call fouls on myself. If they don’t notice, the mistake is on them. It took some adjusting for me.

I don’t like coaching either except for high handicap players. They need to improve to stay interested in league play.

I play with a bunch of guys who only notice I've shot (with) the wrong ball after the offense.

In a friendly "gentleman" game it might be different. In competition errors are part of the game.
