US Open 08/18-23

I thought that if you break from center table more energy/power gets transferred to the rack and less is left on the cue ball. Maybe I am wrong and the physics is different for a cut break. Would like to hear other opinions on this.

The main thing for me is, if let's say your analysis is spot on and a 7 is good enough and Gorst complaint made the guy had to up his break to an 8 then that is taking him out of his game - ala sharking.

Gorst did look genuinely concerned so it wasn't the Earl kind of sharking, but I think extremely unfortunate. I am rooting for him to lose.
I must say that this is one of the best MR single elimination stage I have seen.
Because it’s a cut break attempting the 1 in the side, cueing from edge of the break box should be more of a full contact (slightly less of a cut) than if you cue the same break from center table.

Gorst complaining to the ref was certainly fair. Mocking your opponent to the crowd is certainly a move.

Chua is apparently in a hurry to get somewhere after the match, as he runs out rack 9 from the break in 1:25. 5-4 Gorst.

Yep. All Sky has to do is work out and practice 100% of his waking time like Niels.

Niels is a freak, in a good way. Gotta be driven if you want to be like Niels.

IIRC Niels has mentioned in his videos that he doesn't practice nearly as much as he used to. It sounds like he's more a case of practicing smart with short but intense practice sessions.

I hate to sound like a damn commercial, but I paid 'em the 10 bucks just to watch this tournament. And it has been worth it.

Today is spectacular. Great matches. Outstanding camera work and good direction.

Evidently they hired a local makeup artist straight out of a Hiaasen novel.
