New 1P Rules For The Derby City Classic

If, by a miracle, I win the first game against Filler, the final score will be 1-0 three hours later. The only fly in the ointment is that if my game score gets to -4 in the second game, I can't take any more intentionals. Minus 5 is a loss.

It is an effort to improve. Might have to add chess clocks. A clock that would reduce the time per shot as the game progresses might be an option. Fewer balls on the table makes the play more obvious. Players taking twenty minutes to take the only possible shot is ridiculous. Five minutes a shot is more like up to ten because you are studying the table and considering possibilities when it is the other player's turn.
I think fast play to minimize the other player's time to think is a danger with a per shot clock but I don't think milking the clock when it is your turn is reasonable either. Nothing Diamond can do that won't change the game. Shrinking the field or having a minimum qualifying fargo are possibilities too. I prefer time limits.

Can't believe they over-ruled all those elite top 1pocket legends they caballed with and finally just listened to us bangers, lol.
Previously on General Hospital: "Steve McD. at Diamond said: at the end of an inning if more than four balls are in the kitchen ALL of them spot. He said its purely due to time constraints. He's fully aware that some purists are hot but that's how they're gonna do it. They want a more offensive/aggressive game to speed it up. I also asked about a clock and they looked it and came to conclusion that it wouldn't stop the up table play which was their main concern. Said the rule changes at the 2/3 hour point weren't doing enough. Nice guy, fast replies with well explained answers. He said they got together with numerous top 1p legends when doing these changes."

I can't imagine a better way to limit races other than time.
If you're behind in the score no more stalling shoot or lose.
It's the same gambit during games. If you're way behind from not shooting you lose.
Even though there aren't shot clocks, I don't see a TD allowing this to get out of hand before
booting someone. Nothing is perfect, and near the end of the match some stalling may happen.
I guess that would make the player who is behind have to rearrange the furniture some.

TD discretion is the key here.
You got two guys shooting at their hole in a timely fashion you let it play out. You have two bangers whose idea of 1pocket is to just bunt them all upstairs, or one or both players just stare at the table like they've had a brain aneurism, you call the match at the time limit.
You don't want those guys anywhos. A TD and/or ref/official has to have the experience and cojones to make the call.

Probably more important: The official has to have the backing of management to squish the snails. I doubt that's the case.
I still have hope for chess clocks. In my experience, just having a clock at the table makes the snails move faster. And sometimes they just go away.
I still think they should limit up table balls and penalize anything over with a loss.
Alternatively, first ball over the limit would be rewarded with a win.
