some people seem completely incapable of seeing pool on a non-tricked up Diamond table without slamming the pockets as “buckets”. It’s like a Tourette’s tic.

Not sure, I just Googled Amsterdam and the players' names and it took me to the YouTube stream.
It depends when you play. There are special deals in non-peak hours. For example, if I drop by on a weekday afternoon with a friend and we play from 11am -5pm, it costs about $60 in total, which comes to $5 per player per hour. Yes, in peak hours, you pay a premium price and get a premium product in one of the best neighborhoods New York City has to offer. Amsterdam Billiards is, for my money, the best poolroom in which I have ever played in America.
With over 750 of them, Amsterdam is the go-to pool room for league players. It's also a mandatory stop for any pool enthusiast visiting New York City.
One thing I found amusing during the challenge matches was that Josh would sometimes let his opponent dictate his pocket for the 9ball, so we got to watch him shooting a few very interesting multi-rail shots. I think most everyone there was more familiar with Shane than with Josh, but Josh endeared himself to the New York City pool fans with his good humor and good sportsmanship.

It sounds like the reality is though, it's more of a night out and not a place for people go to just play pool and hang out. Fact is it sounds just too expensive. When I used to run around playing pool I've been actually in hundreds of pool rooms all over the country mostly the East Coast.
I've been in a lot of really nice pool rooms and they didn't have to be palaces or even very big. They could be a small 12 table place with a service bar some good tables and good lighting and you knew you were in a pool room where people played pool.
I remember being in a pool room I think it was in South Carolina maybe North Carolina. This place was like walking back in time. I ended up spending a whole day there and I got talking with this black guy who worked there.
He had like a little tobacco stand and it was also a shoe shine stand but I doubt anybody had shined shoes in a long time. This guy was interesting. He told me the only job he ever had was working in that pool room except when he went to the war a couple years.
I wish they had cell phone cameras back in those days because some of the places I was in were great.

I for one, really enjoy the camaraderie and respect Josh and SVB have for each other. This is why I really wanted them to be on the same team during the Reyes Cup. It would've been amazing to see a Filler/SVB scotch doubles match. That's money. They clearly admire each other and it shows on the table.
Hopefully this year, they can make Team ROW together.
