That would take a near perfect kick. If you did that on me I'd probably quit.i would 3 rail in to the 9

People usually ignore the ball by the side pocket. In this case it was close to the cushion. If it's further up and nothing is available, I'll draw off it down into enemy territory to land on any convenient ball. I've seen guys on youtube take a scratch instead of disturbing the side pocket ball. Any reason for that?
Per the video I'd still try what he did but there's often dig room on the CB and most still ignore the shot. Any personal rule on scratches like no more than you'd spot someone?Well, first, the CB is too close to the cushion and second that 9ball can be made from just about anywhere.
An intentional is best.

if i take an intentional foul its for strategic reasons not based on a spot i would give someone if thats your question. Any personal rule on scratches like no more than you'd spot someone?
I play a guy that hits this kick breaks very good. My dumba%& was watching him play some one else and I showed him how to make it even more effective by burying the cueball in the stack. If someone does the second break -- into the side cushion first and then the normal break -- I'll know I'm either in a very good game or a very bad one.
No. The question is how far you'd ropeadope if you had to? I'd still rather run the balls and hate taking scratches.if i take an intentional foul its for strategic reasons not based on a spot i would give someone if thats your question
You often take scratches believing the opponent will also trade fouls with you.No. The question is how far you'd ropeadope if you had to? I'd still rather run the balls and hate taking scratches.
Even if you stay scratch for scratch do you really want to play 13, 13 say? I try for legal contact asap. If all I have is the stack, I'd probably open a ball on the enemy side just to get one to the rail. You often take scratches believing the opponent will also trade fouls with you.
You are letting out more rope who gets hung is the question.
That's the break I use. 5 balls to my hole, 1 ball comes loose to their side, but it's covered up by the corner ball and can't be made.I play a guy that hits this kick breaks very good. My dumba%& was watching him play some one else and I showed him how to make it even more effective by burying the cueball in the stack.
We shall call you the paper tigerI'd need a bigger spot than that.Anybody could beat me on paper.

I had Rooster kick, 3 rail bank a ball in on me, that was the end of it, the guy backing me(I didn't like the game) wanted me to keep playing. His last name was actually Gamble, I drove homeThat would take a near perfect kick. If you did that on me I'd probably quit.
Ouch.We shall call you the paper tiger

You'd hope it's just the one or two fouls.I shoot the drag shot down the rail all the time but with the CB that close to the rail it's too unpredictable.
As to scratches, in this case it's just taking one, perhaps a second depending on the response. I don't think there's any rule if a sellout is going to give your opponent a bunch of balls or even the opportunity to runout. Sometimes you take a foul just to see what the other guy will do (or how much he knows).

i would rather run the balls too....No. The question is how far you'd ropeadope if you had to? I'd still rather run the balls and hate taking scratches.
ooh picky picky.i would rather run the balls too....
sometimes the intentional is the best strategic shot
i shoot the shot that gives me the best chance to improve my position/ win that i can execute
so i cant put a number on how far i would "ropeadope"
an intentional is not a scratch by the way its a foul......a scratch means the cue ball falls in a pocket and the opponent gets ball in hand behind the line
Truth.Sometimes you take a foul just to see what the other guy will do (or how much he knows).
