John Schmidt runs 820

so wait which is it?

did jayson run 669 “technically” and john ran 672 (*677) “technically”, or was it just an amazing 714 and an amazing 820 and we can all stop being insane about this?

for the record, i dont care, and just love seeing good straight pool.

jayson ran 830 something clean though. the 669/714 was the previous record

I personally have Shaw at 714 (before he ran the 830 something). I understand all the hoopla about the touched ball and the BCA changing it to 669. Almost the entire country on every tournament plays cb fouls only. I watched his 714 live (the last hour or so), and I bought the zip drive that was advertised as 714.

Hell, he even got a 714 tattoo!

Same as I have Schmidt at 820. Yes, I saw the nudged OB.

To each his own. All of those runs were amazing.

same. didnt buy the drive but i did send john s $6.26 while watching his run. monster runs are awesome.

indeed

Running endless racks then cutting out the part you like best just makes the player and the WPA look silly.

There is a shortage of credible demonstration. 2 so far. Ball making tirade and pattern playing tirade. AFAIC, Patrick Johnson posting a VP run on max tight with calculated patterns and study guide ( ) would be more beneficial.

Clean runs that long get hard to come by. The 832 was clean the last I knew but I don't remember if there was an audience. So called exhibitions usually include an audience.

I think the other benefits of today more than make up for the table differences from way back when. I think there should be a traveling nine foot table with four and a half to four and three-quarter pockets and let any of the top six or eight finishers rotate through six tries to set a record, anybody that wants to watching, plus video. No asterisk.

I'm saying there exists now the ability to study and <organize> long runs. The only analogies I have to draw on are the old beboppers. John Coltrane and Charlie Parker stand out. They'd go on and on in their own minds with varying results. The rest of the field - the lissnin crowd - absorbed it all and distilled the cool parts and spread the word until now the shit is teachable as arts and sciences. Some trick for 2 guys just blowin dey hawn. Rockers can maybe relate - or unrelate to the dreaded 20 minute drum solo. Same thing.
