pool's greatest one liners & quotes

Glad this thread got revived! I'll throw a cute one out there.

I was set to play Savannah Easton in about 20 minutes. She just got a steak quesadilla delivered to her table and I wanted to try to get in her head a bit. I said "I don't know how you do it, kid. I always play bad when I eat that much before a match." She thought for a second and said something like "Yeah, me too. But I'm playing you, so I'll be fine."

Cracked me up!

when rob walker interviewed ronnie o’sullivan after his champion of champions win in 2022, he mentioned his recent successes at the age of 46, that he

“is on a roll.”

o’sullivan replied,

“i’ve been on a roll for 30 years rob.”

I've mentioned this before but at Grand-Olive Billiards circa 1966 a local character named Rottenmouth Johnson was upbraiding someone and said, "You don't know if a basketball is round, square or diagonal; you're a f*cking idiot."

Another snooker one was Ronnie after he'd only potted a couple of balls asking the referee what the prize was for a 147.

Last time I went to the snooker a player played on when he needed a lot of snookers and John Virgo said on commentary "why not, it's not as if he's paying for the lights" which got a good laugh. RIP JV

I watched Ronnie on video when he ran one or two balls then took a break while the referee checked what it was worth to run a 147. There was generally a 25,000 pound or euro pot that they would split if more than one person ran 147. Ronnie did get his 147. He would have looked like a silly ass if he didn't as prolonged as that break was.

Even funnier, Ronnie asked and was told the prize pot was only ten or fifteen thousand another time. In the middle of his run he shot a six for a final score of 146! No doubt that was deliberate. I kinda expected a fine or some kind of punishment, but I never heard anything about one. It was funny, Ronnie shot a perfect game but it only totaled 146! 147 drew crowds and increased the gate.

Ronnie may not be the GOAT of cue sports but his name has to come up anytime the discussion starts!
