Technically you could but the camera placement/focus/scale would have to be perfect.
Actually, if you know the opening distance, you can calculate the back of the pocket opening distance and calculate the angle reasonably from that.

Real King cobra (Glenn), can answer that question definitely. I’m going to have 2 4 inch pocket tables installed in October so I’ll let you know then. Assume it’s probably the same as the 4-1/8 but I’m not a table mechanic.

I'm doing my table right now. Never thought to ask Glenn, he's a friend. I just texted him, I'll see what he says.
 
When we are talking the difference of 1 to 3 degrees to see if a 4" pocket is cut differently than a 4.5" pocket, there is not a picture in the world that anyone here can take that would allow a measurement that accurate. Get that out of your heads. The only way to measure it would be with a physical angle gage held against the pocket.

I do recall Glen mentioned several times over the years that the tighter pockets are cut more parallel than the loser pockets. I can't recall if he said that's how Diamond does it, or if that's how he personally does it when extending a customer's rails in their home. Probably both, knowing him.

I do have a bevel gage, I'll try to bring it to the hall this week. My local hall has 4.5", 4.25", and 4.125" pocket 9' Diamonds ordered that way from the factory.

Will that work well with the down-angle on the facing? Maybe a template like they use in snooker would be easier. Could be at the "correct" angle and then look for the deviation.

They kind of have to be, a 4 inch pocket with a 144 angle would be really frustrating coming down a rail.
 
On an angle gauge the one side has to be short enough to not bottom out on the angle portion as you will need to be measuring straight in from the tip, not top edge. The top edge doesn't line up with the center of the ball and that is why you measure the angle straight in from the tip.

True but just by lookin down on the pocket you couldn't tell unless you knew the scale/size of the picture, that would give the size.
A couple balls lined up between the pocket points helps with that.

Anything that you know the size of gives you scope for determining all sorts of things. The farther off the center of the image you get the more distortion you get.

In military long range shooting, you use the known size of an object and the dot mil reticle to determine the distance to the object.

I might have measured my GC4 home table 15 years ago but I forgot what tools I used. I have a different set at my current location.

I've actually thought about designing and 3d printing pocket specific measuring tools. To get the mouth, and both angles. IDK if there would be a market for that. And to what end? Its not like any of the brands will change whatever they have now.
