Straight arm or no straight arm?

you know whatever keeps you from hurting or now missing. pool isnt your life.

and raising up saves your back for old age. and doesn't hurt your game. after adjusting for a time.

with a straight stroke all else falls to the way side.

Been getting a lot of snooker on my feed lately for previously mentioned reasons and got a clip of two guys in a big tournament.

An Asian guy came to the table for a long pot with a bent arm and it was so startlingly different from what the UK players use I said to meself, "He's got no chance." And sure enough he drove it into the rail. Now, make no mistake, the guy is a super accomplished player... but he needs to lose the bent arm, IMO.

12' tables :-o

uh dont you have one in your avatar lou.

just giving you shit, as i dont think it matters one bit if its natural for a person.

grady had a big bend and he was the worlds best one pocket player for a time. or at least close to it.

Even if pool is your life, you will keep the arm how it best suits you for playing long hours,Buddy's was always straight, Efren's always bent.

Some of the best players in the world bend their bridge arm, though.

ronnie bent arm

Having several of his matches come up lately I'd have to say he shoots with a pretty straight arm.

And, if you watch him get off that shot, as well as others in that clip, his arm is straight.

Four of the BEST Cue Men in the World!

AI Overview

Ronnie O'Sullivan plays with a slight bend in his bridge (front) arm, while his cue (back) arm hangs at a 90-degree angle and operates straight along the line of the cue during delivery. [1]
  • Bridge arm (front arm):Kept slightly bent rather than locked completely straight, which helps give him stability and comfort over the table.
    • Cue arm (back arm): Forms a right angle initially, with his elbow moving straight in line with the shot as he delivers and follows through on the cue. [1, 2]
AI Overview

Raymond Ceulemans
generally plays three-cushion billiards with a bent bridge arm, meaning his front arm is noticeably bent at the elbow rather than locked straight. [1, 2]

AI Overview

Frédéric Caudron
plays with a bent bridge arm.
Like many top-tier three-cushion carom billiards players, Caudron adopts a stance where his bridge arm elbow is distinctly dropped and bent, allowing his forearm to rest close to or flat against the table cloth.

AI Overview

Recognize the kid on the right? you can see a definite ...

Willie Mosconi played with a bent bridge arm. [1]
  • Upright Stance: Mosconi used a more upright, classic stance rather than dropping his chest and chin flat to the table.

Well, first off, I was talkin' about snooker players -- not pool, not 3C.

Second, of course players sometimes have to bend their arm or wrist to accommodate cushions, pockets, and obstructing balls.

Third, without something impeding their setup I think Ronnie and Willie favored a straight arm.
