2026 WPBA Borderline Brunswick/Pechauer Invitational

Watching it on Youtube TV. Pretty nice on a 65" TV. Her form has went all to heck in this match. Not like she normally plays. Kaylee is a way better player but Veronica loves her pool and that is all that counts. We play a lot together, she's my wife's best friend.

Yeah, you can tell she's not shooting her best, I'm assuming it's stage fright. That being said, Kaylee is playing well.

Rachel vs Margaret now on youtube as the feature match. But the stream froze up with Marg up 3-0.

And came back at 6-0 Margaret. Margaret is definitely in stroke, she played well. She did have a few rolls go her way early on and as much as they may have changed the score, I don't think it would've changed the outcome.

Looks like we might have a Sofia Mast vs Jordan Helfery tomorrow at 6 mountain. Sofia won 8-2 and Jordan is up 7-4. That will be a good match to watch, hopefully it's on a Youtube table.

Amy Beauchamp won 8-4 over Shanelle Loraine and Briana Miller is hill-hill vs Christy Norris (never heard of her), winner plays Beauchamp. Winner of that plays winner of Mast/Helfery. That will also be a good match.

The second tier pros can catch a gear and do some damage. I remember a couple events ago Ashley Benoit beat Kristina hill hill. It can happen. I do agree that on paper, either Kristina or Margaret should get the event. I will be there Saturday to watch in person and to do some commentary.

Pao? What you smoking?

Nah, no real reason to tune in until Saturday night for the 6:00 round. Though I wouldn't mind catching some Meyman before then.

Meyman will be playing Aleksandra at 8PM eastern on the streaming table. Should be the Borderline Billiards stream, table 15.

Jordan Helfery is my dark horse pick. She's another young player experiencing Fargo-lag. She's defnitely not at the level of Tkach or Styer, but she's as good as anyone else in the field.
Sofia's the dark horse here. It will be a big surprise if neither Kristina nor Margaret wins the title.

A 100 point Fargo difference is enormous, and the lesser player will win a race to nine only about one eighth of the time. Hence, anybody but the top three is a huge longshot.

Agreed that Helfery is a promising up and comer.

Jordan and Sofia play at the same time (8PM Eastern) on table 14. Should be the WPBA streaming table.

Yeah, that should make for some good viewing.

I've seen Jordan Helfery live on two occasions. I was there a) when she won the women's junior event at the International Open, and b) when she played in the Las Vegas Open 10ball in February this year.

Agreed, it's my favorite matchup for this entire tournament.

Pretty disappointing. Both were terrible for four racks, then Sofia found her game in the second half of the match. Jordan Helfery has a fairly straight stroke. but she has a lot left to learn about pattern play, defense and kicking. Her speed control is below pro level. She has a bright future but is a long way from being a contender to beat any of the best.

Sofia has to play a lot better than this if she's going to be a threat to either Kristina or Margaret.

I have to wonder how much Sofia has actually been playing the last couple months.

This tournament is completely unwatchable. Its like watching a round robin between Danny Bassavich, Charlie Williams, Big Kaci, and Albin Ouchan, all without any sort of shot clock/time limit.

The biggest way by far to increase pool's popularity, IMO, is for everyone to learn to play WAY faster than they are now.

I think there might be 4 girls in this event that actually play fast.

Well to make it a little more accurate of an analogy, you should have picked four guys with a lot less skill.

Like I said way up above, no need to tune into until the 6PM Saturday round.

Yeah, and let's not pretend that the men aren't nearly as slow. Even at the men's majors, you don't get a shot clock in a lot of matches and, without one, you get very slow play. It's a problem every single year at Derby City.

A myth is that it's the weaker players that are the ones holding up play. In truth, in most cases, the good players are just as slow as the weaker players, and often slower.

Luckily, fewer streamed matches are being played without a shot clock than in the past, but even at the majors, not every streamed match is played on the clock.

Slow play, which compromises the entertainment value of pro pool, is a big problem, one that neither event producers nor referees are doing enough to address.

Pocket size? Small issue. Break rules? Small issue. Ball colors? Small issue. Slow play? Huge issue.

Understood and there is a reason I won't watch live pool - I don't care who's playing - I will NOT watch live pool. I will wait until the match is at least half way through but I usually wait until it's getting close. Then, I sit here with a finger on the right arrow button and click 10 seconds ahead at a time until someone is shooting. I will even skip ahead in between shots of the same player. If I'm only interested in one of the players I will often times just zip through the other player to watch the person I want. If I see something funny happen I will go back and rewatch. I can watch a 2 hour match in about 30 minutes. Centeno and Bergman are the exceptions, I will generally watch all of their shots.

I enjoy watching this level of play because I get tired of watching someone miss and the other person run out.

Agreed, Jordan definitely struggled more. Both got a few rolls to hook the other early on but Jordan missed too many kicks. Definitely a weakness in her game. Not sure how often you watch her (Jordan) but I've watched quite a few of her matches, when she's on she can be deadly. I'm sure you know but her and Matlock won the scotch double in Ultimate Pool a while ago, she also won the women's at some point. Her nickname is Dead Stroke, there's a reason, it just didn't apply today, which shows her youth, she is only 14.

It was good to see Sofia confidently slam a few balls in in the later games, hopefully she brings that confidence tomorrow, she'll need it against Amy Beauchamp. As long as she plays smart she should get the win.

I'm looking forward to the first 4 matches on the winners side tomorrow.

Tkach - Benoit. Clearly, Tkach should win and it's possible she dominates but if Tkach is off even a little bit and Benoit is on her A game it could be a good match. Benoit plays lots of different games (1 pocket is her favorite) and she's constantly improving but, as mentioned, she'll need her A game to get the win. (Tkach 8-3 - hope I'm wrong)

Kaylee McIntosh - Kennedy Meyman. If Kaylee plays the way she was yesterday Kennedy is going to have an issue. Either way, Kennedy needs her A game to win this one. (Kaylee 8-5)

Styer - Atwell. Styer should win this one and Atwell, like Kennedy, will need her A game either way. (Styer 8-2)

Sofia - Amy Beauchamp. Amy is a tough opponent. She's a world champ from across the pond. Her FR is only 611 but that doesn't tell the whole story, she's been around the block. (Sofia 8-6)

On the losers side the only person I'm keeping an eye on is Rachel Walters. She's up 5-4 now. If she wins, she'll play Lonnie Fox-Raymond. If Lonnie plays how she did today she'll have a hard time making it to the next round.
