Gold Crown VII (seven) pocket liner sound

I've recently started playing at a place that has GC VII tables with ball returns. The tables play great, I can run balls, so no complaints there.

I spent many many years playing on GC IV tables with ball returns, and got used to two things: the sound when a ball hit the back of the pocket at speed, and the occasional times when a ball would come back up out of the pocket because it went in with a lot of spin and 'grabbed' the pocket liner.

The GC VII doesn't have the 'ball pops out' problem, but the pocket liner sound is harsh - it sounds like the ball has hit the wooden frame of the rail directly. The first few times it happened I actually checked the pocket liner to make sure I hadn't cracked it or something.

My diamond professional had that sound when I first got it. Sounded like you were shooting balls directly into the side rails on some shots. I just slipped a piece of 1/8" craft foam between the pocket liner and siderail. Didn't muffle it, just took the harsh hit sound off some shots. I spend money on a lot of things and my Diamond Professional has been the best investment I ever purchased.

Are the rails scratching on those tables. Seems to be unforeseen issue and a deal breaker for me.
As for pocket liner sounds... I cannot hear. Cannot pocket a ball...would have to get a simulator.

I can't recommend this table anymore. The rails are scratching easily. I'm quite upset about it. BW dogged the shit out of the rail material. I heard hearsay they are working on improving it, but who knows.

I spent two days at Bay Shore billiards on the GC7, I like the sound but the ball box is the worst design ever in pool tables. Whoever designed the ball box should never ever be allowed to work on a pool table.

YES! It's like the balls don't come down to the bottom of the tray easily. I think if they'd tilted it another degree or two it would have been better, and the rack slot drives me bonkers.

There are two pieces of wood inside the ball box. They hang down too low, and the balls get stuck on them, then stop any other balls behind them. That's one failure mode anyway. BW is aware and is correcting that, according to an email they replied to me when I brought it up to them.

Mark. G. I saw at Mr Cues 2 in Atlanta a few weeks ago training a mechanic on the GC7. He actually took a saw right to those two pieces of wood to cut it shorter when I mentioned it to him.
