    One Practice Stroke Before Shooting

Are referring to a DVD set made by Steve or the one Randy and Scott made? The one Randy and Scott made has a minimal amount of time spent on the rules of the games and in the first disc goes on to cover SPF, pre shot routines, speed control, stop shots and other basics. It is labeled "Mastering...

    One Practice Stroke Before Shooting

There is a guy at Hard Times who has been around just a short while and he gets down, takes 1 practice stroke. very slow backswing and fires away. He shoots all games very well. He is always somewhat Jacked Up and the ball never seems to jump. Go figure.

    Doctor said No more Gambling

Dr.'s are sometimes weird. I've had 5 bouts with cancer. My prostate cancer has been in remission for over 7 years and I get injections every 90 days. Last week I went in to get my injection and the Dr. told me that I should consider stopping the injections since there are health risks and at my...

    How many have been dissapointed?

I would really have a hard time buying a cue I haven't hit with. The exception is my playing cue which I had made for me "but" I had hit with several of the cuemakers cues at his house and knew what I was going to get. Another one is in the works. Buying the other way, without hitting or being...

    Cork Wrap Question

Cork wraps are great. Guido Orlandi does the best cork wraps I have ever seen! I had one and wish I had never sold it. It was almost impossible to find the seam. Sorry I don't have his contact info but last I heard he was in Michigan.

    Jack Kerouac shooting pool (1967)

Even though this is in N.Y. the scene in San Francisco was similiar. I'm looking at Ginsberg's "Howl" right now. City Lights Bookstore, Ferlinghetti, Kenneth Patchen, Kerouac, Ginsberg. Blue Note and after hours Jazz. Henry Miller in Big Sur. Great, great time of exploration and experimentation...

    Long Beach-Torrance-Carson

Yankee Doodle's recovered their tables. No more blue masking tape! Joe Jost's is great during the day but mostly for Joe Jost's Special, Schooners of beer and pickled eggs with pretzels. Iffy neighborhood at night. Why not Hard Times with freeway proximity?

Who is the best Staker/Backer in the country?

Jack did get the $$. Toby had quite an entourage and there was quite a bit of side action. Toby was 6 ahead the first night in a race to 8 ahead. I thought that Jack was dead but as I was leaving Little Al Romero told me that Jack would come back. He said that Jack was a "War Horse". On the 3rd...

    Practice- drills, books, videos, schools?

You pay your $ up front, you go to Pool School and they don't show you their Aiming System? What's up with that?? That is contrary to everything I have heard about Randy. Was Scott Lee there? I can't imagine Scott ever doing that. Very disappointing and extremely bad business.

What "plain janes" of today are destined to be the "vault queens" of tomorrow?

I don't think that I saw one post that referred to a "Plain Jane". One guy who makes a gorgeous "Plain Jane" is Ed Prewitt. No points-only rings made of Pau. He gets around 2 grand for his "Plain Janes". Zylr cues also command around a grand without points or inlays. Two cuemakers with totally...

JB Custom Case "The Palace Garden"

I know of no other sport that has as much Art and Craftsmanship involved in it as pool does. Cases like this and the many cues that we are honored to see on a regular basis. Absolutely Wild!

Can't get my stroke straight. AARf

For an ex snooker player you seem to drop your elbow quite a bit. Scott Lee and Randy G, who both post here frequently and are BCA qualified instructors, have an excellent set of 2 DVD's that teach the fundamentals of a straight and repeatable stroke along with some great kicking fundamentals...

what can i get from playing snooker?

Besides all the reasons given it is just plain fun. I started a couple of months ago just playing about 4 hrs a week. It certainly magnifies your stroke flaws and mistakes like moving and not staying down. It has definitely helped my game even though my high inning is just 52 and I am having a...
