World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

Another fine day of pool is in the books. Congratulation to the four survivors.

All signs point to a Gorst vs Biado final, but the other two have shown a high gear this week, so anything is possible.

Wishing these four fine players the best of luck on Saturday. Greatness is measured in major titles, and one of these four will have a taste of greatness tomorrow.

Interesting to note that Ameer Ali is 844 on Fargo and Kledio Kaci is 804.

When Kledio was on the hill, at 10-7, he was running out with 3 balls left on the table, but he got out of line. He leaves an 8-9 combo for Ali. Ali makes it. You could just feel the tension after Ali went up to 10-8, and the air went out of the tires for poor Kledio. Older brother Eklent comes over to KLedio's corner to comfort his younger brother. The two of them didn't utter a peep to each other, but just being together was all that mattered. It was a pretty cool moment.

The best player in the world right now in his prime - Gorst, not Filler —an aging champ (Biado), and two up and comers from different parts of the world (Regalario and Kaci). All but Bernie I could have seen getting this far.

Carlo will have to break better to beat Regalario, but he is still the most clutch Pinoy among the many active top players there.

I was enjoying/listening to the Biado/Ignacio match earlier, nice w/o a crowd.... you can hear Biado making body noises once in awhile from above the shoulders.
One thing about em, he kicks in ''tough spots'' above all his peers.
Here's a GOOD example
Go to the 6-6 game score, where it's the 13 game and Biado is kicking w/o ANY diamond system, it's 100% feel'. His ability here is real, and he does exhume some body language at times to intentionally get under his opponents Skin... very subtle.

I said “PUSH”
Bottom line was that Kaci got penalized because the ref was deaf.

And the rule is stupid to begin with. Not one person in a million who saw what Kaci did would've thought that was anything BUT a push. There are legit rules and nit rules, and the one that cost Kaci is definitely in the latter category

I was pretty much neutral before that, but after that I was rooting for Kaci and I'm glad he won.

I have drawn players in tournaments ( no refs ) wearing head sets…told them if you don’t hear me call ‘push’ it’s your fault.

Biado has had an impressive, while still a bit perplexing career. I don't think he has ever been the top Filipino player, but yet he has become one of the top Filipino tourney performers. His technique is a little wonky, with his shoulder over the shot line, but he makes it work. In my mind, he's among the elite when it comes to imaginative pattern play. Still -- few mention Biado when discussing the best in the world. He really has figured out how to perform his best when the camera is on. Maybe we all need to give him a little more credit.

I think the better shot was to play higher on the 8 and play the thin cut up and down to the 9.
Agreed that the other choice was also reasonable, but not better. Finding the gap that Kledio found was pretty unlikely. Passively accepting the eight would have required a challenging shot from the eight to the nine.

Not terribly important to decide which was the better choice, but Kledio made a very reasonable choice here, made a solid stroke, and got really unlucky.

My overpriced 2 cents....Little Ko played really well and got NO rolls. Biado played great too. Little Kaci has a pure stroke. Regalado (heck, all the young filipinos) is going to be a monster. Fedor is superhuman with a jump stick. I can't see anybody beating Fedor tomorrow
