Hindsight is 2020 of course.... I've never heard of anyone asking to borrow a cue a few days to see if they like it. A few shots in front of you, yes. And then hand it right back.

He was probably planning to sell it from under you all along is my guess. Or, went bust and sold it then for one more barrel.

I don't know where you got "icing" from. The carb had a cracked throttle body and the new one hadn't came in yet. Still timed in third with almost no practice. Had a big wing on that late model in those days. A bit more wing than I needed with the mid engine. The back of the wing was even with the back bumper. Went out for hot laps and couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground! I had to take all of the wing down except the last sixteen inches.

I sold the car to a guy that was scared to run it past the halfway point of the straights, new driver. I don't know what happened to most of the car. The engine was experimental. Went to a pair of brothers up the road who should have seen some obvious nonstandard parts in it. It was still plenty fresh but they decided to rebuild it in the off season just to freshen it. They did. It lasted ten minutes just off idle in their shop before it scattered. They should have measured things or they were less than ten miles from my shop. I could have told them what they needed to do or told them to change the clearances back to standard. Oh well!

I was worried about landing on my head and neck when I released my harness but I was more scared of fire which might explode at any moment. After the pack went by I popped my harness and got out. I couldn't say how I landed.

I loaned a fellow racer a wide five bolt pattern wheel. When my car was ready and I needed it I went to get it. He had loaned it to someone else! I traced it through almost ten people. Finally I gave up. Found one used somebody would sell me. I went to buy it and there was my wheel with some minor damage I knew well. I grabbed the wheel and told them it would be a blue day in hell when they sold it to me, it was mine! I left without another word but with the wheel!

I miss short tracking, everything about it. Funny thing, the two most fun things I did with my clothes on was driving 600+ horsepower late models & sprint cars and riding a working cutting horse. Foundation bred, he could turn on a dime and give you nine cents change. Miss my buddy.

I'll sometimes let someone hit a couple of balls with it, especially since I design and build shafts and cues. For instance Filler and, yeah unfortunately I didn't know the other guys name, Dimitris was there but he doesn't really speak English although he looked interested, was asking me about my hybrid shaft and I would let him shoot a couple of shots with it right in front of me just to see how it feels and because I'd like to promote it, but in general I don't let people play with my playing cue and there's no way in hell, I'd let anyone but maybe my best friend, borrow it "for a few days".

Well, that doesn't exactly jibe with the saying, It's supposed to be "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, well I won't be fooled again". LOL no it's " Fool me once, shame on YOU, fool me TWICE, shame on me".

He was only fooled once, so it's still shame on Scooter, although in your defense here, "you're mister f$%kin' signs joe" There were plenty of signs that it would be foolish to lend him a cue while not being right in his sight.

Freezer and Cardone came one time and lost over 100K.

Moving forward; I moved to FL. Befriended Crosby, Deuel, Mills, and many more.

One day I pop in to my preferred pool room and I run into Scooter. Banging balls on a Diamond. I had to re-introduce meself, but I think he knew who I was; just couldn’t remember the name.

We shoot a cheap set for 100. I win. He doubles. As one does. I agree. I lose. I extend my hand since I’m out of time at that point. I pay him on the spot. We play again the next day and I win back to back. He pays pronto and I take care of his bill.

He asks me if he can shoot with my Revo cue which me wife got for me when they first came out for our anniversary. I told him sure. He asked me if he could practice with it for a few days because he was looking to get one himself. I said yes, no problem. This was January 9, 2025.

That was the last time I have seen this thief and the liar. He has texted me saying it’s on its way and this and that dozens of times with nothing.

I have also lent him money, and got it back in pieces from some woman I do not know.

I think I have given this old friend every chance to make it right. I feel very sad that it has come to this.

I would like my property back. I would also let all fellow players know that this man’s word is worthless. Sadly.

Way off topic, but I once loaned this kid my BMX bike, that was only a few months old, back in the mid 90's. I was around 15 at the time, and very gullible. My mother had just paid like $500 for the bike, which was a GT, and a very nice BMX bike. It was like brand new. Anyways, somehow it got a flat tire, and this kid (who was around my age, and lived in my neighborhood, a few blocks away, and seemed really nice) offered to put a new tire tube in, if I loaned him the bike for a few days. I agreed, and watched him fix the tire, before taking off with it, lol. Long story short, I was never able to get the bike back.

Me and my mother went to the Police, to tell them about it, and they were just like, well since you gave him the bike (even if it was just a loaner), there is nothing we can do about it. So, according to the police, since I handed over the bike, it no longer belonged to me, lol.

Yeah, I never trusted anyone ever again after that. Really loved that bike too, but was just too trusting.

Don't feel too bad. I had a one ton truck. Put it in front of a friend's house on the highway to sell. Somebody he knew slightly wanted to test drive it. The test drive was closer to ten miles, he went by some truck scales. Left it and the keys there. Since he left keys and all they told me I couldn't charge him with theft!

Cost me several hundred dollars to get my truck back plus I came within a hair of going to jail! The scales were on a two lane back road but were basically scamming and taking in twenty thousand a day or more in fines. The scales were considerably overstaffed since they were pissing off everyone in sight. Local truckers made national news with a protest at those scales. Anyway, I came very close to punching out the Lt running them, tapping on his desk with a fist with every word I said. Quietly called him a son of a bitch so that was four taps right there!

In 1990 somehow my mom talked my dad into buying me a DYNO GT. I loved that bike. It was straight out of a BMX magazine. I can't begin to tell you how many dudes in my neighborhood tried to finesse me out of that bike. It would be a collector's item now. I have no idea what my parents did with it. Probably gave it away, or sold it in a yardsale.

Well, a couple things. I didn’t have time to clarify then. Plus I was responding to another poster, not you. I thought the other poster didn’t interpret what I was saying the way I meant it and overstated it. So I said “no”. If you want clarification I think it is different.

I absolutely don’t think you should get a divorce etc… as the other poster suggested. I do think a gift from a spouse has to be treated differently from a fungible item purchased by you. It’s not the dollar loss. I’d sooner loan a 1500 cue I bought (not saying I would) than a $400 one my wife got me for my anniversary. That was my point and a suggestion to think about. The conclusion you reach is for you. I don’t know your relationship, your situation, or you. So if I got burned on something with possible sentimental value my wife got me for our anniversary I’d think about it differently than if I loaned out something I bought. And I’d think about how it might affect her. So as not to hurt the marriage by the mistake. My thinking was along those lines not the interpretation of my post. I hope that clarifies it.

It is pretty amazing how much some of those vintage BMX bikes are worth, these days. I was a huge fan of this movie called, Rad, and seen it like 100 times, lol. I really sucked on a bike, lol, but I really loved that Silver GT BMX bike so much. I thought that it was like the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, lol.
