9 ball rules question on CB fouls only

In APA it would not be a foul. However, if I recall, the ball that was moved would not be returned to it's original position since it was involved in play. Under WPA rules it would be a foul. http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/the_regulations#21

    cue ball roundness

This is correct. On the second spin, set the top mark just slightly above the equator and you should be able to see it migrate back to the top. Will be most precise on a very slick surface.

Pagulayan 9 ball miss dafabet World Pool Masters

When Alex called for an extension on the 8 - an otherwise routine shot - I chalked it up to adrenaline but then the miss on the 9 was a real jaw dropper

    Breaking cue down?

Side question. My cue sometimes doesn't seat right when I screw it down. I will sometimes - during my turn - unscrew it a quarter turn and then retighten it. How big of an asshole would it take to call that a concession?

how are ya'll doing in league ?

We're 13 points ahead in 8 ball for the session with 2 weeks left to play. As long as we don't take any bad beats we should be good. We led 9 ball for most of the session until the 2nd place team slipped into 1st place 3 weeks back. We played them last week. We were only 3 points behind them...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Good Summer APA session. 1st in 8 ball Very close 2nd in 9 ball Win % is 67% in both 8 and 9 and that's with almost always playing above my handicap (I'm a 5 in 8, 6 in 9) Had two B&Rs in 9 ball this summer as well. I'm #1 MVP in the 4/5 8 ball bracket and wondering when I might get bumped...

"Hustling": Is It Sleazy Or Clever (Or Both)?

Exactly, a hustle only works because the mark thinks he's going to win some easy cash. The easy way to avoid getting hustled is to never play for more than you can afford to lose.

    Progressive Pot Idea

That's the progression. And let's assume you have an infinite number of opponents as skilled as you in line willing to pay any amount of money into the pot. When do you take the pot? vs taking another round of bets?

    Progressive Pot Idea

now I'm sure this has been mentioned before but here it is. Bar tables always have a queue of people waiting to play so here's the prop. I put a dollar on the rail. Next player matches the pot (a dollar in this case) and we play the match. The winner can either take the pot or take the...

Corey Deuel Controversial 10-Ball break at SBE

A very astute observation. Testing the "long tail" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_tail) is very valid - more so in tournament conditions. Corey is a student of the game and exploring the "corner cases" for break speeds and cueball placement is not only a worthy endeavor but quite in...

    What are good 3-person games?

Cut Throat is the classic. 3 ball - racked in a straight line, not triangle is good for a little money action. (I've seen good players milk the pot by tying the score repeatedly and then getting out in 2 - especially with a triangle rack) I prefer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowboy_pool

Is there an established system for discussing stroke speed?

As many others have said, this is a coaching question and the only people you really have to coach on this are lower level players. I use lag speed as my base line as most of my 2-4 APA players know lag speed. It's the rare shot that requires more than 150% of lag speed. So mostly I just tell...

    Predator Z2 on Meucci butt

A friend has a Z2 shaft on a meucci butt and I'm thinking of getting a similar shaft for my Meucci. I tried his and it hits very sweet but I've heard concerns that LD shafts have a limited lifespan and that mismatched cue parts won't play as true as a full Predator stick. I don't like the...

    Sharking Allowed

In the book about Kid Delicious that came out a few years back, Danny talked about learning to play in a room where sharking was part of the game. I think he even mentioned someone draping their "equipment" over the rail while he was shooting the 9 in a money game. He said after playing in...

If they quit over losing they weren't going to make it anyway.

attitude or fundamentals...which is more important ?

If your game is inconsistent then it's your fundamentals that are inconsistent. That's not to say that attitude isn't important but when you learn to have complete confidence in your fundamentals, your attitude will follow. What I think happens when players "don't care" or "get drunk" and then...
