John Schmidt compliments Jayson and the 714 run

Well, yes, heating is an advantage under certain conditions. But the rather most important thing about heating the table is that it will play closer to the same, no matter how the climate in the room is. This is especially important with high wool content cloths, which is why match snooker...

    Boriz extra shaft

From the pictures I've seen on Ebay, it seems the joint is uni-lock. That is the regular uni-lock and not uni lock radial. HOWEVER, this is a joint that requires accurate machining, which is why cues of low cost with what looks like uni-lock do not necessarily take regular uni lock shafts. It...

Is Schmidt's and charlie 626 Legit

Agree about snooker. But I disagree about the pool standards existing. What passes for "standards" are too loose, not as in easy but as in covering to large of a range of pocket difficulties. That includes pocket openings, angles and shelves. If you also include rail profiles, you'll understand...

A record worth (BIG$) trying to break!

33k for 29 points...I'll be honest, I'm not really impressed. You have to play in a sanctioned match as well...Nah, I'm definetly not impressed by that prize money. The equivalent would probably be to run 20 racks of 9 ball in a match (if matches were long enough to allow), or 400 balls in...

Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

About 20 years ago a local pool hall had stock GC3's and all the pockets were around 5 inches. If I had to guess, I'd say they were more than 5 inches, but I didn't measure them, other than putting balls together in the pocket opening and seeing plenty of a gap on the side. They were extremely...

What Kind of Chalk Does Jayson Shaw Use?

Taom chalk is allright to use, apart from it being round. I got a promotional piece at a big tournament and it slipped out of my hand and rolled across the venue. Make square chalk, please.

Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

Lets face it, there is no table this record could be set on where nobody would whine about some aspect of it. 3.75 inch pocket GC modified for deeper shelves? "He's got more rail to work with, it's easier not to scratch". Diamond with 4.5 inch pro cut: "The cushions are to lively, he doesn't...

John Schmidt compliments Jayson and the 714 run

IDK, I think he got plenty of accolades. At the time he broke the record most people seemed to be behind him, cheering. It was the later developments that ruined it a bit. Still, he has no reason to be depressed about this. He made some money and got attention from all over the world. Even got...

    Shaw 714 video?

I don't think I ever saw this thing advertised as "free", apart from the livestream. The important thing will be that it is made available for a (reasonable) fee, so people can review it when they wish. Hopefully with as little delay as possible. With Filler chomping at the bit, that would...

    They don't. Example one: Olhausen.

Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

The process was to my knowledge as you described, though I haven't done a whole lot of research. The fact that the organizations are completely incompetent is not an unavoidable thing, but a result of lazyness, corruption, greed and general idiocy. In pool we are so used to this, that we...

Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

That's all fine, but the specs are almost entirely irrelevant to modern pool. Even WPA specs are subject to being ignored by WPAs discretion. Basically WPA and BCA have been asleep at the wheel for decades. They could have either enforced their specs or updated them to be more in tune with the...

    JAYSON SHAW BREAKS 626!

There is another aspect to it as well, the way in which the record was set. Mosconis run was during an exhibition that got extended on prompting from the crowd, which was of a considerable size. It's not at all the same thing as some guy setting out to break the record, with numerous attempts...

714!! Unfortunate scratch on the break stopped him.

Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

His end patterns have improved so much, he's using insurance balls...He's looking like he's played the game for 20 years now!

He hit his breakshot like it owed him money:D. He has no nerves what so ever!

Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

Agreed. Straight pool isn't about the pocket size. Jayson has adapted to the game in record time and shows why he's so great across different cue games. His straight cueing and quick thinking makes him great at any cuesport he sets his mind to.
