    Diamond Tables in Ont?

Le Spot on Shepard past McCowan has ONE... the standard here seems to be GCs vs Diamonds.

    Smorg... AKA Doug

What a lousy way to start a new week... my sincere condolences to Barbara and Doug's family and close friends. I first ran into Smorg on RSB like most people here, and soon found myself on the end of his sharp wit. He gave me a hard time for being an English-Canadian and threatened to 'bop' me...

    New Employee..............

Love the sharpie... you're a sly one, Mr. Tucker... lol. Good looking kid. A future hall of fame cue-maker, I'm sure.

I'm opening my dream pool room

Looks awesome, Mike. Two comments... Why so many 7' tables? My local hall has leagues every night and they only have half a dozen. Even the league players seem to prefer to practise on the 9 footers. Also, if you want to have pro tournaments there, wouldn't it be nice to have an 'arena' area...

    Pool Shoes

The important thing about a good pair of shoes nowadays, Joey, is whether or not they've been wind-tunnel tested for their flight characteristics. I mean, if you are in the same room with eg. a US President and decide to show your contempt for his policies, is the shoe going to fly straight...

    My cue wont unscrew!!!

I had the same problem with an impacted Layani joint - couldn't budge it. My solution was to get a couple of buddies over. I held it with a hand on each side of the joint and the other two guys had both hands on the shaft and butt respectively - as close to the joint as possible to avoid...

    SmorgassBored UPDATE

Wow... I musta missed this. I've been through the congestive heart failure thing myself and it's no picnic. Smorg, if you're listening, my heartfelt wishes for a quick recovery. It must have been that porker valve that's wearing out - remember this when you had the operation...? Now I'm...

Any old RSBers lurking out there?

Awe what...? You threatening us Fast Eddie...? :-) If I recall correctly, Thierry Layani still has the trophy which is probably appropriate because he won it the most number of times. Nice to hear you are still extant though...

Can anyone put a caption to this picture?

Wow... didn't know that - thanks for letting me know. I guess Ruby is now 'retired'. We had some good tournaments there... For sure. Mike. You have my work ID and my home ID is... maloneod@rogers.com

Can anyone put a caption to this picture?

Hey, Mike... if you recall, that's the picture on the cover of my book of short stories 'Hamster Tales'. The picture was taken in a Chinese province by a National Geographic photographer. Apparently most homes in the area are too small to accomodate a pool table so they mounted this table-top...

Funniest thing you have heard a league player say

I gave some lessons on how to draw the cue ball to young Mike, one of our 3's in CPA. He kinda got the hang of it but was a bit shaky on the concept. A few days later I wonder into Le Spot and he's playing a match with one of our older players. "Hi, Dave..." he says, waving excitedly. "I've...

    i hate when this happens

One day when I'm feeling rich, I want you to make me a cue like your playing cue with all those subtle wood tones. Still one of the nicest 'subtle' cues I can recall ever seeing...

    i hate when this happens

Hi, Roy... been busy with work and a new puppy - and I guess we haven't had a GWN tournament for a while. Nobody visits Toronto any more. Are you still making cues? Incidentally I was mentioning your site to one of my CPA team-mates who was looking for a jump-cue a week or so ago. The book...

    Corey is a looser

Sorry, Joey... didn't see this. Any new stories I have time to write are now on my Blog. http://davidthehamstermalone.blogspot.com/ Not that I have much time to play these days. Busy job, new puppy, high maintenance wife... you know how it is :-)

Hey, go easy on him, JAM. Aren't you the one who was taking a 'peak' at AZ in your AZ survey thread? <g>

    Short people?

FWIW, my wife Ortelia is 4'10" - you're tall by comparison. She uses a standard size cue with no problem. You'll get used to it.
