For me...it's all I will play with. I cannot abide the distraction of a wrap seam or either end of the wrap to wood. I can move my grip hand cleanly, as the shot may dictate. Also, with some of the gorgeous woods used in cues, it's just a damn shame to cover that up, IMHO. For me...playing...
