    Cost of cue refinishing

Bummer. I appreciate the contrasting experience. Outside of the cost/communication issues, was the work good? I mean sans the shaft clean up.

    Cost of cue refinishing

A friend just had an older Meucci done by Proficient Billiards. Was about $450 with a new linnen wrap. Actually they charged her $75 more than the price quoted on their web site. When she questioned it, they said sorry price went up. This was with no cleaning up of the shaft. I'll never again...

Balabushka cues made in japan ! are they any good and worth the money ?

A high end production cue will play just as good as a custom but will lose value faster. Just my opinion having owned both. Currently I think my Lucasi and Scmelke play just as good as my Philippi for a lot less money.

    Schon, what do you think?

...NOT POPPING, This is an older cue- typical finish is shrinking a bit, is why you can feel the inlays is all. Reach out to proficient billiards- Ask Scott there @ Proficient if he may be acquainted with anyone in your area for cue refinish work. Your cue- probably has genuine elephant inlay...

Balabushka cues made in japan ! are they any good and worth the money ?

...cues that will always lose value and certainly dont play as well as lower end custom. I recommend a second hand Rick Howard cue or similar. If it has "battle scars" you can always send to Scot Sherbine a proficient billiards for a refinish for 100-150, and have practically a new cue. Ken

Seeking Input: Archer ‘93 vs. Today

Good post. Agreed that Hoppe should have been omitted, If you consider all-around cueing, Worst always tops Reyes as a legend in both pool and 3-cushion. What does the speed of the straight pool legends at 9ball have to do with anything? SVB couldn't beat them at straight pool either. One...

Seeking Input: Archer ‘93 vs. Today

Actually I’m not new to the “pool scene” I’ve been following professional pool since 1994. Greenleaf and Mosconi, couldn’t beat Shane in any long race in any rotation games, and that goes for crane also. Sigel, varner, worst, Lassiter, id day would give Shane fits since they were proficient in...

I have a APA by Meucci Cue . Need info !

IMO it isnt really that valuable. My best advice is to send to Proficient Billiards for a complete refinish. It will maximize value if you want to sell it, or make it a good player cue. For those giving $300 and up pricing, ask them if they would like to buy it at that price. Ken

    Billiard Dice..................

"These dice are made for you in Lancaster County PA at Proficient Billiards. The patent pending idea comes from a cuebuilder who has stood in front of a lathe for decades and the insanity that comes from that. These dice are perfect for all levels of play. The recreational shooter, the league...

    Bob Runde Repair

Maha, I disagree about cue makers not understanding the repair of a cue, at least some. But I heartily endorse Proficient Billiards for their professional cue repair workmanship. IMO, on their best day, PB wouldn’t do a better repair than Bob Owen would. Now their turnaround time is likely...

    Bob Runde Repair

It cannot be said enough. Proficient Billiards has it going on. It is a real bright spot in our world. But, I don't want to get out of line, because it is not the only good shop out there. We just hear about all of the donkeys. I particularly like two things about it and Scott 1. I can...

...enjoy restoring one of the older Schon cues, maybe he even recalls it. None of us know how Bob feels about repairing a cue from the past and I’d still contact him and include photos too. It might wet his appetite to tackle it. But as others have posted, Proficient Billiards does excellent...
