I tried my first points and botched it. It was a Curly maple forearm and buttsleeve with 4 ebony points each. The points came out on the nuts dead even on both pieces..on final taper, some ebony powder got embedded in the maple. I used air as i was cutting the taper, but to no avail, black...

I purchased a replacement chuck for that lathe from bolton..I wanted the 1.5" bore..The bore was actually 1 3/16" so i sent it back...

Was thinking of setting something like that up permanent to do 12" - 20" ring billets

Well. after getting hammered with all these post about no one making any money making cues, :winknudge: Sounds like a big money pit. I better sell all my equipment or raise my prices.:D I still can't understand why there are sooo many cue makers out there.:confused:

No matter how many months you hang your wood or how many cuts you make, it still only a few hands on hours on a cue. Its still an awesome return on your money.

I know I'm going to open up a can of worms here but....If there is no money in building cues, why are so many people getting into the business. I don't know of many business where you can spend $100 on materials to build a cue and sell it for $600 - $1000 for a few hours work. My 401k isnt that...

Due the production cue manufacturers in china build a cue the same way as the custom cue makers here in the USA? Do they cut on their wood for months with a lot of passes and build there cues in stages which takes months? Or do they build a cue in a day?
