    Sanding your cue

Try 50/50 solution of denatured alcohol and water. It works great of granite counter tops. It should work great on your graphite shaft.

    Kick bottom

Good idea. Experiment to determine how far a ball will skid after contacting a cushion from steep approach angles (angles from 70 to 90 degrees)... all at the same speed (medium). At shallow approach angles the cue ball behaves differently. Instead of skidding, it tends to induce english (side...

Why is there no organization or association running pool as a sport?

Do you know any cat herders? I didn't think so.

    Kick bottom

Easy explanation. Upon hitting a cushion, a ball skids (slides without rolling) for a while... like it does when you hit middle ball (like on a stun shot). This is VERY easy to see immediately after a table is recovered. Over time, the distance of the skid is reduced.

    Burl Woods

Back to the OP's question, I prefer Thuya Burl... and Afzelia Burl for contrast. Here's the cue that Dave Jones of Seattle made for me. I designed it, including the double "Crown" rings. He executed it perfectly. The cue is flawless. All white is ivory. The short points are pink ivory. PM me...

How's the layout? Would you play here? Need opinions please!

Not exactly related to the room, but auto-flush urinals and toilets are a nice touch... I would think less clean-up and maintenance. Are you going to offer pay-as-you-go lockers for players wanting to leave their equipment there? Are you may want to put a thread in the Room Owners Discussion...

    Using draw causes more misses?

IMO and experience, powering up on a shot tends to expose the flaws in our stroke. Powering up on a table with 4.5" corner pockets should be used sparingly... and only at short distances.
