    MOSCONI CUP LIVE (Score Updates)

I don't know him, obviously, but it's hard to believe that Shane doesn't care. What you see as apathy could just be deep frustration. Personally, I know I play a lot looser for my own money even when the bet is high (by my rookie standards) than when I'm playing for no money and the whole team...

Cmon! The Americans are getting sharked!

I'm with BasementDweller. There are 2,000+ fans having fun, what other pool events can claim that?

How Much More Time Do You Give Mark Wilson To Captain Team USA?

It often seems like that some years, but no, not in a thousand tries.

Wow, Mark Gray is getting some rolls!

To be clear, since I started this thread, I actually do agree with you. But the sequence of getting shape off the side pocket tip to get out, and then breaking dry and burying the cueball in the pocket and behind a ball got to me. Like everyone else, I'm impressed with Bergman--without the...

I think we need to change to North America vs. Europe, so we can bring in Canada and add Alex!

Mosconi Cup table pockets look over 4.5"

Isn't new cloth the standard for major tournaments, especially on the TV table? Not these guys' first rodeo, after all.

    Mosconi Cup Gifs

Sponsorship money I have to imagine. I do like the looks of the Rasson table, especially never having your foot hit the table leg. But I agree that the shelf is too shallow. I wonder if that reflects standard Rasson specs or something Matchroom requested?

Mosconi Cup table pockets look over 4.5"

Ouch, Albin just dogged an easy one too. He would have needed 7" pockets though.

Shane may have to disagree with you, unfortunately!

How did Cliff Joyner fall off the 1-pkt map?

Maybe next time BB ducks out, he'll send me instead. That would definitely make up for him sending Shuff last time!

How did Cliff Joyner fall off the 1-pkt map?

    Poetic! Also true.

What are fair fees for tournament directors to charge

If it's a weekly or monthly tournament, then it's more a labor of love. I've done many of those and would usually get a moderate drink/food tab, like $30. Of course, I was always playing in those tournaments. If running a mid-size event, especially if the TD isn't playing, then it's more of a...

Ogburn won, followed by Billy and then Hendy. Nice job on the Calcutta, Jay!

World Fargo Rating list --place changes from the US Open

With data on 14.1 and 1P matches, it would be an easy addition to have ratings for those games. In the Big Data Era of Pool, we'll have ratings for every game. Shortly thereafter, however, intelligent pool-playing robots will defeat us all.

World Fargo Rating list --place changes from the US Open

It's designed to basically be above the rating of the 48 defeated players and below the ratings of the 2 players who won. In other words, it reflects the strength of the competition. Without knowing that strength, your question cannot be answered.

    Thanks Accu-stats and Pat

Well said! It's great to see the US Open with no controversy about the money, boycotts, or the like. Just great pool and some amazing matches to finish it off. Big congratulations to the organizers/saviors of the US Open! Big congratulations to Shane, Chang, and Jayson, too!

    5 rail one-pocket break?

I think your answer is no, nobody has seen it seriously used or done so themselves. The more detailed answer is that there are good alternatives when the standard break isn't working well. The final answer is that it's your money and I don't mind at all if you use a five rail break. Likely...

    5 rail one-pocket break?

Well, at the time of breaking, you're never in a trap and you're almost never in a position to run out. So you have little to protect and little payoff for taking a risk.

Let's Make Sure There's a One Pocket Hall of Fame Dinner This Year @ DCC!!

    1. Lots of very strong, accomplished players and champions post on the WWYDs. Billy, Tom, Rob, Jerry/Huey, sometimes Brumback, and others. But also, Hendy now and then, Sparks, Ghost (though not lately), JTom, and many others I hope to not insult by leaving off the list. And lots of B players...
