    14.1 opening rack ball placement

In my opinion I think it does matter. Except for one pocket there is no other pocket billiard game that has as much history as 14.1 continuous. It is the storied game that has the least amount of luck involved in its play. It is the best measure of a player’s ability to pocket balls, play shape...

Capelle: Pattern 39: Assessing the Line Up by Min-Wai Chin

I had some real problems with this pattern. Drawing out to just the right angle to come off the rail just the right distance was tough for me (about 40%). Here I shoot it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz3KWuuMJMk&feature=player_detailpage I did much better with the following two...

    14.1 opening rack ball placement

From the WPA web site: 4.2 The 14.1 Rack For an opening break shot, the fifteen balls are racked in a triangle with the apex ball on the foot spot. When the balls are re-racked, the apex ball is omitted if only fourteen balls are being racked. The marked outline of the triangle will be used to...

Capelle: Pattern 14: The BB/KB Double Play (TB) by Mike Sigel

A friend set this pattern up for me and asked how I would run the pattern out. I played a draw on the nine to get nearly straight in on the eight. I pocketed the eight in the side rolling slightly forward for the two in the bottom right corner. I rolled forward about 8 inches or so and cut the...

Scratch when all object balls are behind the head string

I believe the second question is "After spotting the ball nearest the headstring must the player shoot at the spotted ball?" My understanding is after the ball is spotted any ball on the table is a legal ball to shoot. Following the constraints of the cue ball must leave the kitchen before...

    Thx Crane

I agree with the placement for the different safes. I did a short demo of safes for some new players on my 14.1 league. the crane safe is at about 4:20 into the clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9bBuQSLu0E Andy

    Opinions on this situation please....

I have a problem on an unmarked table being sure the rack in in the right place. I use a spare cue ball at the head of the rack to ensure proper placement of the racked balls. Removing the spare cue ball after the rack is removed. Andy

which safety do you play here?

Move the cueball into the 1 leaving it there, moving the 14 away from the rack. If your opponent plays safe you're in a better position to play a safe. If they take a scratch I feel you are still in a better position to play a safe. For me it is a matter of percentages. I feel better taking the...

which safety do you play here?

I would play into the one just enough to loosen a few balls and take the foul unless you are on your 2nd foul. To play safe I would thin the 14 ball. I don't like going up table. Andy

    when thing get bad

Slumps are frustrating! I'm in one. I'm trying to play my way out but it just seems to build on itself. I have gone back to basic fundamental drills (read as easy shots). I am doing them over and over. I am tanking in my league runs of 3 to 5 balls and so far out of line I have to play safe or...

    New to the game

I know that it is hard to do, but try not to think of the numbet of balls you have run. Think of the shot at hand and your position for your next shot, keeping in mind the third potential ball you want to shoot. I don't know about you but this is enough information in my head to keep the little...

    How to clean pool balls?

I built and use one simular to the second one in this video (about 3:36). Cost was about $30.00 and took half an hour to build. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtbvoXqi7x8 Andy
