    Who is really the best?

I have to say Jeff Olney I have gotten a lot of compliments on the way my Olney looks. He does a lot of 6 pointers, but has also done Plain Janes to butterflys and even cues with a lot of points. He uses various combinations of wood, joints, etc. and I personally love the way his cues look. he...

    Thank You APA

Well, I'm not one for putting out people's names on here, but since from some of my posts you can tell I am from Raleigh, and the first Google search result for "APA Raleigh league operator" has his name I guess I will make an exception. His name is Marc Lancaster. I wasn't aware that he paid...

    Thank You APA

I have to admit I have contributed to APA bashing threads before, but I have also said good things about the APA in the same thread. Yes, I feel there are good and bad things about the APA. This is one of those times I have something good to say about them, so please lets not turn this into a...

    some assitance plz

Oh one more thing that may or may not help you. When I went from the thinner Predator shaft back to a thicker shaft, my stroke was horrible. I could easily control the cue ball just by poking with the Predator shaft but when I tried that with a thicker shaft nothing happened of course. Once I...

    some assitance plz

Thats an easy question, 3 months or 2 weeks! :D Let me explain, several years ago when I went and bought my first Predator shaft, I had read all the hype and talked to some local players with them. One of, whom was a much better shot than me at the time, had told me it took her about 3 months...

    Twisting The Balls

Ok, I finally got an answer from someone about this at the pool hall. Basically twisting the balls is turning the whole rack at a slight angle. The bottom ball is about an 1/8" or so to the side. Depending on where you are breaking from, if you move it one way, it helps the wing ball go...

How do you win from here?

Oh yeah, I would hit the 10 thin on the right side and bring the cue ball back down table.

How do you win from here?

I like this mentality. I hear some people say don't worry about your opponent, just play your game. Sorry, If you know your opponents strengths and weaknesses, I think you need to adjust your game accordingly.

Tournament Rules that are Completely ****ed!!!

I played a small bar tournament where they had some "upstate NY rule" , where if you were on the 8 ball you had to hit it or it was a loss of game. So if the 8 ball was behind the line, your opponent would purposely scratch. That way you had to go down table and back just to make a good hit so...

The truth about the GSBT event in Bristol TN

Wow, there seems to be way too much thought involved in all of this. Whether they add $ or take $ or whoever gets money, its not really our concern. We are just the players in the tournament. If we know what our entry fee is and what our potential winnings could be, what does the rest matter to...

What are the best excuses you've heard or said for losing a game?

"I haven't been sleeping well" "I have the shakes" (I heard this one last night) "I have a pain in my shoulder/arm" "This table is a piece of crap" "Something is wrong with this cue" "My other shaft is an LD shaft" "I have been drinking too much" (I used this one last night)

    Twisting The Balls

I have heard some long time players use the term of "twisting the balls" in a 9-ball rack in order to possibly prevent your opponent from making a ball on the break. I asked one about it and was told it was something you just had to learn over time. So my questions to the AZ community are... 1...

    More harm than help?

Unlike everyone else  I also feel getting your stroke warmed up can be done on any table. Only you will know if its working for you or not, and if you believe it helps than most likely it will. Pool is a very mental game afterall.

    Nice case a friend made.

That's an interesting case style. Seems to be some sort of hybrid, pretty cool.

    Andy Gilbert J/B

I just got done talking to Andy and as everyone had said he doesn't make thin shafts for his J/B cues, nor does he use Ivory in the ferrule. So it was probably a playing shaft. Anyway, I have a J/B shaft ordered now, which I am very excited about! :D

    Andy Gilbert J/B

Thanks for the info. I didn't try using it to shoot normal shots due to the hard tip, but with a hard hitting break stroke I could feel the shaft bend quite a bit. I have already sent Andy an email asking him about making a 13mmm shaft for it.

Are LD shafts really alot better?

I use to have a Predator P2 w/ a 314 shaft and for quite a while it was the best cue ever. I could easily put on English as well as Draw and Top. It made it somewhat effortless compared to a maple shaft. It helped me learn alot of things I couldn't do with a maple shaft. After a couple years...
