    This Is An Absolute Disgrace........

Many sports started out paying for themselves. Poker (not a sport) but often talked about in the forum still does. Larger entry fees may mean fewer but more meaningful tournaments with larger payouts. Big payouts draw interest. Enough interest draws sponsers. Sponsers draw interest. This could...

Earl Strickland Video showing him trying to hit his opponent with his cue.

In reply to sliders comment on "laughing out loud'. My suggestion tofind some humor in the situation did not include the further baiting of Earl by spectators. It was a suggested reaction to 2nd and 3rd hand stories of earl behavior. The short part of my post he used did not really represent my...

Earl Strickland Video showing him trying to hit his opponent with his cue.

In other sports-most notably tennis, hockey and golf, people throw things and yell at referees or bystanders on a regular basis. With pool's tough guy image you would think we could handle a certain amount of contoversial behavior. Most of us probably play with somebody worse than Earl (though...

Bar Table Myths? - What are your thoughts?

This is a very interesting thread to me. I play three times a week. Twice on 9 footers and once on the barbox. My winning percentage is lowest on the barbox. I always blamed it on the poor playing conditions but in light of some of the comments made here I think I need to adjust my playing...

    Lets talk gloves...(poll)

Could it be that most players in halls wearing gloves are c players or worse because most players are c players or worse? Most players in haolls not wearing a glove are also c players or worse. Not much indication of skill can be taken by the equipment used be it a cue , a glove, or most...

    Lets talk gloves...(poll)

I don't understand the knee jerk reaction using a glove gets from some players. Its a tool. A piece of sports equipment. Not a way of life!

    Lets talk gloves...(poll)

I prefer to use a glove but in some situations you can tell it would be better to play without. I can make it through some games without it but nothing feels quite as smooth.

Imperial pool tables, are they any good? Comments welcome.

Some may but my Olhausen has 1 inch slate. I think the weight of thicker slate adds to the stability of the table more than the trueness of the roll.

    Pool Table From China.....

My first table was a no name from china. The pockets were cut at an odd angle and you could hardly make a ball on it. I sold it and bought an olhausen oversize 8 foot table. The pockets are 1/4 inch tighter at the mouth of the pocket but well struck balls go down. Maybe I just had bad luck but...

S.A.M. Anyone use it? Does it really work?

This is not magic. It's science and as an engineer I'm surprised you can't see the value. TommyT~~~~~looking for some magic I think the main reason we don't see the value of the system is that nobody has said what the system is. Most often when something is too good or...

What is wrong with pool having a seedy image?

This pretty much sums it up. Its hard to love a sport you have to follow by clicking the "brackets" on the AZB site. I want to see these guys play! I think gambling outdraws tournament play for one reason only. The prize is often larger and the larger the potential win or loss the more...

Does anyone know of any pool table reference books?

The Billiard Guidebook by Mose Duane - This book costs about $50.00 and has all the information you need to repair or recover a pool table.

    Skipping steps in pre-shot routine

I have this same problem. It also happens when I play peaple I know I can beat. I think I'm lazy. Real winners want to win evey game no matter the time, circumstance or opponent. I need to want to win bad enough to invest the time that takes into every shot. I don't always want to win that bad...

    Is pool your favorite Sport/Hobby?

Golf has been my favorite sport/hobby for 25 years and although I have played pool most of that time also it is only in the last few years that I have grown to love it. It seems very likely that if I continue to get better (I have improved quite abit this winter) pool could become my favorite.

    Did Archer Win It

I spent the day at turning stone and Morra was amasing but I had to leave before the final match. I thought the bracket said Archer won?
