What's better : Three Jaw or Four Jaw chucks for a CueMan Deluxe Lathe

I have one now. It is the smoothest of my four chucks. IIRC, I got this one from Todd

What's better : Three Jaw or Four Jaw chucks for a CueMan Deluxe Lathe

Before I get flamed, I did search for this topic, assuming that it certainly must have come up 1000 times, but no results. Two of my three jaw chucks are getting sticky. I disassembled them, ran them through my ultrasonic cleaner, and things are a little better. My four jaw chuck has always...

    Purple Cocobolo

I did this on my latest Coco cue but used IPA instead of Acetone. I'm not sure if it helped hold the color, but mine has held for quite a while now.

I finished mine very soon after the final turn and so far, the color has held.

Pool table upgrade - market research

You should do much better than $10K each on a multiple table deal. Brand new 8' Diamond Pro-Am tables retail for $7495.

So Why Do I Find Myself Looking at Meuccis?

Given the relatively small OD of the brass 5/16-18 insert in the shaft, it is relatively simple to bore it out, plug the shaft, and convert to virtually any thread you like. I've converted two to radial recently for a guy who loved the shafts but wanted a different butt.

Would you do this ring swap? If so, how would you go about it?

Thanks Mike. I decided to pass on the job as the customer is super picky about look, sound, and feel. Too risky for little $$. If I were to do it, I would follow your advice above and do it. BTW, to answer your question, the ignite has a brass insert with radial threads. I'd have to bore...

    Converting joints on c/f shafts

If I do this, that is my plan. The only shitty part is that the plug in the Mezz has a brass insert for the 5/16-18 joint. A bit of a PITA to bore out but doable. The flange at the end of the CF tube would have to be removed to prevent me from having two glue joints at the shaft end, the...

Would you do this ring swap? If so, how would you go about it?

Joint Diameters for both are .840, ringwork is same. Rings look to be installed on the plug. Ignite has a brass 5/16-18 insert that has been bored and tapped to Radial which seems to function very well. Joint is flat-faced. Neither will get near my lathe until I have a plan, high confidence...

    Converting joints on c/f shafts

So you are threading the inside of the CF tube? How deep can you go, given the thin wall thickness? I have a request to swap plugs and rings from one CF shaft to another. Sounds similar to what is being disucssed here.

Would you do this ring swap? If so, how would you go about it?

I've got a guy with a Mezz Ignite shaft for his Sawdust cue. He wants the rings from his Sawdust shaft installed on the Mezz Ignite. Not knowing the internal construction of either, and the brass insert on the Mezz, or either of the ID's, I'm not sure I want to risk the Igntie. He doesn't...

Az Members who build their own cues please post photo's of your new and old work!!!!

What are you using on the double black to get it so nice? While mine does machine well, I've been having to use a base layer of black expoxy over it to get that deep black wet look like you've got there..

    Best table...

It arrived at my house fully assembled. As the install was on the second floor of my house, and up 24 stairs, they took it apart inside the truck and re-assembled it upstairs in my house. Turned out great. Only issue is that when they come fully assembled, Diamond trims the excess cloth right...

It’s a brand new color offering by Diamond. I think they called it Espresso. Sort of a distressed very dark brown but has the durable PRC quality. I like it

    Kamui break tip

If your'e in your late 70's, and still breaking at 20 mph+, you have nothing to worry about. There are MANY people much younger than you that can't deliver a 20 mph cue ball to the rack! Congrats!
