Matchroom WNT 2025 - Problems and progress

They are completely and utterly dropping the ball. The moment they announced the Reyes Cup without any semblance of a plan that made any sense, it’s all gone downhill from there. Reyes Cup was a disaster, Filler chose WPA, World pool masters cancelled, world cup of pool never spoke of again...

    Fargo rated tournaments.

Yes. Absolutely. Contact Fargo and ask them to put you in the system. They’ll give you an arbitrary starter rating and you’ll be off to the races.

Past vs present. Your dream matchups.

Prime Strickland vs Filler is the only answer here. He’s the only guy from the old guard that makes you wonder.

Fargo Caps = The dumbing down of pool

You’d get shitty turnouts because there’s only 870 players in the entire country with Fargo’s above 675. That’s would be 17 guys per state if the distribution was even…but in reality about 5 states contribute about half of that 870.

Break cue.. the most over hyped cue in our bag?

Man…I’m blown away by these answers. BK Rush has helped my break tremendously. Probably worth 20 Fargo points to my game.

    What is a Shortstop?

Yes…they are exactly like the 12th man on the bench. They are unfathomably better than a very good amateur yet not even close to the best player in the world. I think you’d be pretty shocked what these guys make playing pool. For as dialed in to the pool community as you i’m pretty shocked by...

    What is a Shortstop?

It is insulting to tell them that. The 12th guy on the bench of an NBA team is still a fully fledged professional. The difference between that guy and Lebron is absolutely immense…but they are both professional would be insulting to call that guy a streetballer lol. You set the bar so...

    What is a Shortstop?

What you’re describing is a struggling pro. Not a shortstop. A shortstop is a really good local guy that give a pro a good match with a light spot or even steal one on a barbox. A shortstop is defined by skill level. Not by the binary of day job or not.

    What is a Shortstop?

That’s too high. Calling a 740 fargo a shortstop is a bridge too far. Mike Davis, Sergio Rivas, Lucas F Verner, Rob Saez, Jeremy Jones are not shortstops. Shortstop is more like a 680-719. I’ve seen 680-690 players do some amazing things. I think that’s where the shortstop bar is set.

    US Open-The Other Way Around

Yep. Pockets are too tight. I’ll die on that hill.

The smaller pockets are helping the weak players, its very deep and people don't see it.

If I can’t get out, I can’t get out. Pockets are too tight for me. It makes it a coin flip against any competent player…even if they’re 50 points lower than me. Guys…what level do you play at here??? I’m not talking about the difference between a 550 and a 500. I’m talking about the...

The smaller pockets are helping the weak players, its very deep and people don't see it.

I’d have to agree with OP’s premise. I would NEVER gamble 9 ball on the tightest table in the room against a guy 50 fargo points lower than me. Why would I??? I run out better…why take away my advantage by allowing him to take seize upon my newly found misses on routine runouts? I’d never...

Everyone can look. But only a few can see.

I think i know what you mean. There’s a lot of secret knowledge. A LOT. A few major ones that I’ll never tell anyone. Many of the pro’s don’t know some of it but they have such good feel and accuracy that it doesn’t matter if they “know” it or not.

    Arguing with experts

It’s hard to listen to these “experts” when they gaslight us players telling us that our tip, tip shape, tip diameter, and deflection don’t actually matter but the moment we change a single one of these, we feel a massive difference in every aspect of our game. There’s a disconnect between the...

Why did Earl lose the Hong Kong Color of Money $100,000 match to Efren?

Earl was the better 9 ball player and obviously should have won that match. He couldn’t stay calm and focused though. If Earl had a corner man that he would have actually listened to he would have literally double the titles or possibly even more than that. His gear was so unbelievably high at...

Up 15 points since getting established. Not bad! Try to get to 575 by year end!

    Konrad’s journey through suckage!

The cope and delusion in this thread runs strong. You are a C player. No one is telling you with any kind of seriousness that you need to go play with pros because “that’s where you belong”. You belong in an APA league with a 3D printed pocket marker. I’m sorry, but your delusions of...

    More Diamond 7' bounce

It’s all a crapshoot. You get really good on certain conditions…then go play a tournament on completely different conditions and you obviously can’t play even close to your A game. Speed control is everything on a barbox because at some point in your development, missing doesn’t really...
