Reglue Monarch cushions on a GC1?

I have a GC1 with the original Monarch cushions. I noticed that one cushion had come unglued over a short stretch, maybe an inch or so. While checking the cushions all the way around, I can tell that they are not everywhere flush with the top of the subrail: they sort of gradually rise and fall...

    Pocket angles

On several recent threads the topic of pocket angles has come up. It seems that the standard for corner pockets is 141°. I measured the angle on my GC1 and got 142°, pretty close. After google searching the topic I saw this on the WPA website: "Vertical Pocket Angle (Back Draft): 12 degrees...

    Replacing figure 8 plates on a GC1

I have a GC1 and noticed that the rails seemed loose in a couple of places. I checked and discovered that the incompetent installers must have inserted some of the rail bolts incorrectly, crossed the threads, and then stripped the threads when they used their power driver to drive the bolts, so...

    Fake Aramith balls

Just checking, but I found these balls on eBay. This guy has been selling a bunch of these advertising them as Aramith Premium. But they are not, am I correct? Number font is wrong... http://www.ebay.com/itm/171246100656?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648

    GC 1 installation mechanic callback

Backstory: I had my GC 1 set up and recovered by a local mechanic. Shortly after this, I noticed that slow-rolling balls along the side rails would gently roll away from the side rails towards the center. I pulled out my Starrett level and sure enough the play surface was not level - high on...

    Real or fake?

Are these real Aramith or Chinese knockoffs? What do you think? My suspicions were raised because the box has no printing, and I don't know if I've ever seen an Aramith ball with a solid black circle around the number. I'm no expert though so was wondering what others thought.

    GC 1 with swayback

Had my GC 1 installed about a month ago and after taking my Starret level around the table, it has confirmed what the ball trajectories seem to be showing: the Brunstone is swaybacked (i.e sagging in the middle, higher on the sides). I am 99% sure that the mechanic simply laid the Brunstone on...

GC 1 wooden slate frame question

Starting to put my GC 1 together and I've noticed that the mortise and tenon joints in the wood frame that is attached to the bottoms of the slate pieces are coming apart. The middle piece appears to have never been glued but at least some of the joints at the corners of the frames were glued...

Shimming the feet on a GC 1

Hi all, I recently purchased a Gold Crown 1 that does not have adjustable feet and was wondering if there is a preferred material for shimming the feet to bring the base of the table to level. The table will be on low-pile, high-density carpeting and the floor is pretty darn level, although I...

GC 1 or GC 2? Slate or Brunstone?

Hi all, I started this thread in another forum and it was suggested that this is a more appropriate location. I am in the market for a used Gold Crown and stumbled across a GC 1 that is near to me. After scouring this forum I gathered that many GC1s came with "brunstone" rather than slate. The...

GC I - question about the slate.

Hi all, I am in the market for a used Gold Crown and stumbled across a GC 1 that is near to me. After scouring this forum I gathered that many GC1s came with "brunstone" rather than slate. The seller sent me this photo of the bed and it sure looks gray like slate but I was wondering if anyone...
