Well that's your call. Sounds like selfishness on the part of your captain not to respect your wishes though. I would've said sorry, I'm out. See ya. Hope it works out for you or at least improves some.

I appreciate the comment. the captain is a friend so that played into the decision as well. I am going in tomorrow night to help out but only for my game and I leave. it is what it is.........

No league for me this week; we have a Bye. I have to keep an eye on the scoreboard, though. We may get knocked out of the playoffs tonight.

Anyone besides me and lorider play NAPA?

Nationals are Coming!

Hi,
I'm in a NAPA league on Sunday afternoons. This is our first session in it, and so far I really like the league and format.. Problem is though, is it may be our last session, because the Sunday afternoon thing isn't too popular with everyone, especially with the summer coming up.. Hopefully they will be able to find a better day and time for it..

I'm a big fan of the NAPA format and really looking forward to Nationals (it'll be my first).

Tonight is the last week of the regular session and I'm waiting to find out if the LO is going to do something over the summer. Lots of people are taking the summer off from pool but there's a core group of us that want SOMETHING organized, whether it's singles, scotch-doubles or teams... we may end up just running a local thing over the summer.

Same boat here. Last match of the session on Sunday. Im vying for the top points getter (I wish I hadn't sat myself back to back a few weeks ago) for that automatic spot into national, but I'm the captain so think qualify for a spot anyway (not sure?)..
Im also one of the few knuckleheads that still want to play in the summer, but I'd say we'll over 50% of our local players take league play off for for the summer. I usually find something to play in, or just have a summer in house league out of my place..

By the way, in case you haven't seen it. Dee Adkins is playing Chris Bartrum for 20k each in a race to 15 one pocket match that starts tonight at 7pm.. Dee Adkins is the top rated 9-ball shooter in the NAPA league.. Both these guys are awesome players...

I'm doing ok As a 5 in APA. Played 8...won 6 of them. First match of spring
Session I beat a 7. I have to admit he wasn't at the top of his game but its still
A big "W" on the scoresheet. Currently 9th in top gun. Not too bad considering
I can only play every other week do to my work schedule. I know.....I shouldn't let work
get in the way of what's important! Lol.

Got shutout last week by a four, and came into this week in fourth place in my tier by one point(APA). Waiting on this week's results to see if I still qualify for singles top gun.

Congrats!

We played our 9-ball match last night against the other team tied with us for first place.
One of our players couldn't make it, so last week they agreed to let her play on Monday night. This is where everything started to piss me off.

Our player that couldn't make it, is a SL4 and not a very strong 4 either. Why they even flipped on Monday is beyond me, she was the only one playing that night, so the other team knew who was going up regardless. They put there SL6 up to play her, hoping he would run out and get high points. She lost 14-6.

So last night I get there early, hit some balls, and hung out. Both teams had 5-6 players each by 7:30. So our co-captain asks if I want to play first. So I get to the table and ask who I'm playing. Their captain (the SL6 that played Monday) says that their SL7 is on his way to play me. They already have 6 players here and they want to put an SL7 on me to try and win more high points. I told him he has 30 minutes or it's a forfeit. So the SL7 gets there and they finally realize that they will go over 23 points and he can't play. It's now 7:45. Their captain then tells me that they have another SL6 on his way to come play me and he's 20 minutes away, so we should wait. I told him to go F@$& off! That's BS. I told him he either puts up someone now or they forfeit and I'm leaving. He stalled till 7:58pm and put up a SL3. By then I was annoyed and just wacked at balls till I lost 25-30. That is why I hate pool leagues.

man i cant believe some of the crap ya'll guys put up with.

i am pretty easy going and laid back but i would not put up with the above scenario.

our matches start at 7;30. at 7;35 you better have a player at the table or its a forfiet.

i will accomodate another captain wanting a certain player to face mine. when i throw a certain person at 7;30 and he says so and so aint here yet to face him i say i will throw this other instead ...now get your player to the table or its a forfiet.

i have started my double jeapordy league with just 2 of us there and we keep our own scores till other players show up. i dont wait for my players and i dang sure aint waiting for some one elses players.when i gotta go to work in the morning.

Totally agree. If you have people there that can play there is no way I'm holding up everyone's night just to accomodate your matchup. At that point it doesn't even have anything to do with winning or losing its just that league nights are late enough already and there is no point in wasting more time.

By the time the match started, it was easily 8:00-8:15pm. I tried to play as quick as possible and that's the main reason that I lost.

I wake up at 5am everyday to drive an hour to work, leave work at 4:30 and takes 1.5 hours to get home. I have an hour to myself before I leave again for league nights. I'm cutting back next session to one night a week, if at all.

Thats BS. Where was your team captain while all of this was going on? Our's would have never let that happen. Our matches are scheduled to start at 7pm. As a team we have agreed that we will abide precisely by the APA rulebook which gives until 15 minutes past designated start time to begin the match. At 7:15:01, you put up another player or you forfeit. Plain and simple. Don't blame you for being pissed as it clearly affected your play but this should never have happened.

I apologize in advance for the beating that is destined to happen to the person who is lucky enough to play me tonight in either 8 or 9.

I gave them some leniency with the extra 15 minutes. They had said they were putting up there SL3 around 7:48pm and she just sat at the bar. They didn't nudge her along or anything. The match started and into the first game, their other player showed up. So, I can only assume they were stalling for him to show up.

I lost 13-7. Our first player lost 14-6. So we were already down 27-13 going into the next three matches. I left after my match. I tried to give some input to our LO when they held the Super 30 matches at the pool hall I was playing one hole at, on Saturday. He didn't want to hear it and that was before last night BS.

That is awesome!

I'm feeling kinda froggy myself, and even tho I haven't exactly been setting the world on fire in 9-ball, I'll try and keep up :p

As expected we dropped to 4th place after our bye week.

What was unexpected was that the 1st place team was usurped! So going into the playoffs next week, we are facing a team that I have more confidence in beating. It will also be in a location and on equipment I am more comfortable playing on.

That right there is key. I play 7+ speed when I'm confident and comfortable. If I'm uncomfortable and annoyed, I play 3 speed, like last night! LOL

So my co-captain just informed me that after I left, we won the next matches 18-2 and 15-5, putting us up 46 to their 34. Our SL6, who is 9-1, is going up against one of their 4's tonight. We had to schedule it later, because of his work schedule.

In hindsight, I may have gotten agitated last night, but they did let us schedule a match early and late.
