Pool is not dead because of the image it has. It really isn't dead, maybe it hasn't grown in

the last 30 years but just because it is stagnant does not mean it is dead. People use time

differently today than they did years ago, keeping healthy, being outside. Really ask

yourself this, especially if you live in a colder climate, are the halls filled more in winter or

summer? Things to do other than play pool is more important than it is to US that do. People

are not 'turned' off because of t-shirts being sold, or gambling done, or what ever other slight

you can think of, the truth is the consumer (us) have many ways to spend money that

compete not only with billiards but all other sports as well. The ebb and flow of all sports

reflect what the consumer does with $$$$ Tennis, Golf, Baseball, all fluctuate. And we

are capable (as a sport) to compete with those other ones, and have so in the past. To relegate

the sad state of pool onto the production of one t-shirt is narrow-minded, and to voice it

out loud just lets me know what kind of fools you think us to be.

Honest men don't hustle.

If you get hustled as a pool player, you are a pool chump.

Nobody has ever hustled me on a pool table, but many have tried. I've played thousands and thousands of games for money and I've never hustled anyone or thrown a game for money.

Chumps get hustled...pool players are smarter than chumps.

I've never held back on my playing ability and tried to sucker somebody into a game. On the other hand, I know my ability and nobody ever suckered me into thinking they were a chump and then they turned out to be a superstar. They may have beaten me, but I knew they were players going into the game.

If you can't consistently run balls and racks, you shouldn't play for a dime...especially with people you don't know. I always had enough money and set the game where I knew if I could win or not after a dozen games or so. If you come into a game with a stranger and bet your whole wad on a short set, you are an idiot.

I don't mind playing for long sessions. The longer I play, the better I get. Long sessions allow you to adjust your game and strategy. I usually play better if my opponent is playing good. I lose interest if they are not running balls every time I miss.

I have been playing pool for about 25 years, can run tables like the best of them, and yet have NEVER been hustled. I play for the social interaction, competition, and strive for perfection. Whenever I get approached to play for money and say no thanks, the normal response is, "that's too bad, you play too good to be a nobody", which I am more than happy to be. NEXT>

I have nothing against playing for money...I did it for years and years. However, pool today is nothing like it was years ago.

Today, the average pool player has no money. What little they have isn't worth you losing a lot to win their little.

Years ago, there was lots of money in action in almost every bar or pool hall you went into...legal and illegal money. It wasn't uncommon to go into a place and leave with several hundred or thousand, depending upon how well you played.

Today, it is the same $300 being passed around and around between the same guys.

I personally won't ever buy from Hustlin again. I like their product, but they've made it to where I don't want to support them. A couple years ago I ordered a shirt and it took about a month to receive. I contacted them to make sure it didn't get lost in the shuffle and they told me the delay was because of an abundance of tournaments. This was true and completely understandable. So fast forward a couple years to a few months ago and I order another shirt. It arrived in the mail a few days later and the fit and everything were just perfect. I even thought the shirt quality had improved from the previous time. So in mid-October, I order a long-sleeve shirt. I keep on checking the mailbox, but nothing is there. I figure I had ordered right around the US Open, so there might be a delay like the time a couple years back. After 30 days, I send an email through the listed contact on their website. It was a totally understanding message just saying that I wanted to make sure my order wasn't lost in the shuffle. After two days without a reply, I figure that they might not really check that email all the time. So I call this time, leaving a polite message stating the same thing I said in the email. After a few days with no reply, I'm getting the feeling I've been hustled...by a company named Hustlin! I was about ready to throw my other Hustlin shirts in the trash. That is when I remembered that I'd had a email interaction with someone at Hustlin from a different email address a couple years ago. I located it and sent a reply, again politely checking on the order. I did get a rather swift response this time. He stated that he had been meaning to get back to me and that the color of shirt I ordered was on backorder and it was expected in about a week. He said I would receive an email the day it would be shipped and that they would comp a free gift. I felt like they were really trying to make things right and I appreciated that. On December 3rd, after getting no email about shipment, I received a package in the mail and there was no comped gift inside. The shirt was received more than a month and a half after ordering. The lack of a comped gift was just whatever, but it was insult to injury after the lack of reaching out to me and the difficulty in reaching them.

What is the story behind Hustlin apparel?

Did the person or company behind Hustlin think such a name closely related to the word, "hustling", would improve a positive view or outlook of pool or was the company created for a quick buck at the expense of the sport, game, hobby? Something tells me gambling is the heart of pool, but what about for those who don't gamble and play for other more inspiring reasons like social interaction, competition, or the exhilarating feeling one feels when playing near perfect.

If pool doesn't change the way it currently is portrayed, then it will continue on this same downward spiraling path.

Hustling is the deceptive act of disguising one's skill in a sport or game with the intent of luring someone of probably lesser skill into gambling (or gambling for higher than current stakes) with the hustler, as a form of both a confidence trick and match fixing. It is most commonly associated with, and originated in, pool (and to an extent other billiards-family games), but also can be performed with regard to other sports and gambling activities. Hustlers may also engage in "sharking"—distracting, disheartening, enraging, or even threatening their opponents—to throw them off. Hustlers are thus often called "pool sharks" (compare "card shark"). Professional and semi-pro hustlers sometimes work with a "stakehorse"—a person who provides the money for the hustler to bet with (and who may assist in the hustling)—in exchange for a substantial portion of all winnings. Another form of hustling (often engaged in by the same hustlers who use the skill-disguising technique) is challenging "marks" (swindle targets) to bet on trick shots that seem nearly impossible but at which the hustler is exceptionally skilled.

You are obviously looking to the forum for answers to what seems to be innocent questions.

Since I realize you know not what you do, which is ask a simple question and expect a simple answer.

Hustlin' Clothing line is owned and managed by former NFL Pro Tony Hargain.
He is not new, he is established within the pool community and he knows the stigma that comes along with the name "Hustlin"

That being said, we all know the stigma attached to the word "Hustler"
Understanding that gambling and hustling have their stigma as well as their allure is what YOU must understand.

Both have their place.

Just as humans can be naughty and nice, so can pool.

There is all kinds of culture around the game, if you don;t like the sharks, fine, stay out of the open water.
Just don't knock those whose life is about swimming with them.
Some of us know both sides and therefore we attempt to elevate pool to the level that it merits.

Within the pool community, that is considered pretty good service.:)

I do not understand your post and "Motive" ??? Are you "trying" to intentionally hurt the Hustlin Brand???

Based on your provided information, you ordered through the website and the two incidents were "Excuse-able"??? One because the company was on the road at the time of order. Another because the company was "out of stock"!!!

Tony works very hard to build the brand and treat customers accordingly. So, I can only deduce that his girlfriend/wife shipped out the order and forgot to include the gift he promised. She probably was unaware.

Based on my read and interpretation, posting " I personally won't ever buy from Hustlin again." on the largest billiard/pool website in the world for the above grievance is way out of line.

I have personally received Hustlin towels and items thrown in my bag as a thank you for the purchase. This was done for absolutely "NO REASON"!!!

I am certain if you review your response and the offense of omitting the "Extra Item" by accident that your response is more than a little out of line!!!

Even more out of line is posting it "HERE" and not giving "Hustlin USA" the chance to make it right and send the omitted "Gift" for the delay and uncontrollable circumstances that lead to the delay in delivery.

Again, this is just my interpretation of your post and comments! I just hope anyone that read those comments would not be apprehensive buying from the Hustlin brand. My experience has been very different and the Hustlin brand is highly recommended by "ME"

Sincerely,
KD

Funny thing is there are Casinos opening everywhere, and guess what goes on in Casinos? Yep, you guessed it - GAMBLING!

And guess what else, the Casinos have an advantage! Yep, you are being HUSTLED everytime you set foot inside one.

So it would seem that people actually like being hustled.
Jason

The next place I go for work more than a few are gonna get "hustled". I'll be there about 4 months, so there will be plenty of time to set a nice trap :) lol

Jason,

Now that you have your answer, and your revelation that people like to be taken advantage of, and you see, we all kind of have of clue-

I would very much like it if you went to the bank, withdrew a few bucks and bought yourself one.

Your interpretation is a bit extreme, to say the least. You accuse me of intentionally trying to hurt the Hustlin brand? Get real dude. If that was the case, I would have created a thread on my experience weeks ago. As it were, I saw a thread on Hustlin and put forth my experience. Additionally, why would I compliment the shirt quality and say it was a perfect fit? You're letting friendship bias cloud your judgment on this one. It was a sour experience and I had every right to post it.

I stand by my post and comments!

You can not see it. Then so be it! But, others will and do see and understand my point!

Negative comments for an out of stock item and being out of town.

Grounds for bashing a business?

Reread what you wrote and said! My interpretation is not isolated to just me! I am not the only one that got the negative impression of hustlin USA from your post!

Ask around or do a poll or maybe members would be kind enough to privately send you their opinions!

I was not trying to call you out or humiliate anyone! Just you really should read your post again.

Am I the only one who finds this absolutely rediculous??

Mr. Wilson, can you please explain why is it out of line for someone to say his opinion? He even said "personally", that means he speaks for himself ONLY. He didn't say "all of you, don't buy from Hustlin ever again". He just stated his, and only his desision and intensions.

Honestly, this is just rediculous. A person is "way out of line" because he said his experience and his and only his decisions, whitch by the way, they don't affect you in the slightest.
