It was enlightening to learn that 96 percent of AzBilliards readership for a 2-week period is male.

Now I would like to do a poll about age. Are you over or under 35?

This poll will also be a blind poll with no names revealed. Lurkers can feel free to vote!

I think the majority of readers are over 35. What do you think?

Looking forward to this poll count!

Curious. Why?

Seems like the results of both are quite obvious and expected.

It was not obvious to me. I really did think there were more females hanging out on this forum, since there are many more females playing pool tehse days.

So what do you think the age majority will be, since it is obvious to you? :p

FWIW, the demographics in pool, such as this forum, can be helpful to those selling products, to know what their target audience is. Let's say somebody was selling a book and wanted to pay for a banner on AzBilliards. Knowing the demographics is helpful.

So let's see.....

Most pool rooms are 21 or older to get in, but some are 18+.

So that means the range for under is 18yo to 35 years old, 17 years between.

The range for over is 35yo to at least 60 years or more, 25+ years between.

I think the odds are in favor of over. No poll needed.

Maybe this is a regional thing, but there's quite a few pool rooms that do not serve alcohol, so there is no age restriction.

It is smart alecks like you with your "no pool needed" comment that makes contributing to this forum suck. Soon the place will be filled with a bunch of trolls and mean-spirited people. Maybe this will please you and keep you coming back for more.

Uh...... yeah. ;)

Uh...... yeah. ;)

If I could delete this poll now, I certainly would. This forum has turned into a place for people to take potshots at others. Why on earth would this poll warrant this kind of sarcasm? Why is everybody angry all the time?

Enjoy the forum. Keep up the good work!

Well I hope your don't find me smart Alec.

I think the results are obvious to any one whos ever played pool. The absolute vast majority of pool rooms are occupied by 'men' over 35 at least 10-1 or better through out a typical business week.

Then factor in the willingness of the typical female to come to a pool specific forum and get involved in discussion and well ...... Should be no need to do the math.

I guess I should apologize for responding with "what I think.

Im truly sorry you found it so offensive.

Nah, this placed sucked before me due to pool groupies, such as yourself.

(My 1st post wasn't an attack, but since you seem to be super bitter today, we shall dive right in.)

Have a wonderful day there sunshine!

Well, I was actually interested in the demographics of this forum more so than a pool room, but I understand your strategy for coming to that conclusion.

In my area, believe it or not, at least the pool rooms I used to frequent, there were more younger folk playing pool, especially on the leagues. There were not men over 35 in a smoke-filled opium den where women aren't allowed to come in.

Again, I wish I hadn't done this poll, and I think it's time for moi to take another hiatus from this happy forum. It's so nice to contribute to a forum and get targeted with flippant remarks made by cantankerous souls.

I think my time would be better spent doing something else while I'm at work. Hey, I got an idea. Maybe I should spend more time working and not hanging out on this forum. Now, there's a novel idea!

I'm a groupie, almost 60 years of age. Gee, I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or a slam. You're right. My contributions to this forum suck compared to yours.

You, on the other hand, make this forum shine brightly. Keep up the great work!

Not in my area... I find the majority of patrons are under 35, possib under 30.

Can't think of a single room in a single state I've lived in on 40 years that thats the

case....out side of maybe the few late business hours of a weekending night.

Clearly there may be a rare exception.

I think.......

Maybe you just need to relax? JMHO, but it seems like you may be taking this a little to seriously.

Again Im truly sorry this is affecting you this way. I guess there's no way to express that sincerely over the net. If you like me to delete my posts I gladly will.

Wrong again, your contributions are much better than mine!

Everyone is not out to get you and "No poll needed" does not mean "F-you JAM", it means "No poll needed". Chill.

And there's the issue: we tend to believe our experiences are representative of the world- which is precisely what you have done and are defending- but they aren't necessarily.

Valid poll, even though it is not asking about demographics of pool rooms:

I think the responses let us realize the social dynamics and how the age groups differ. I remember a few yrs back, the BCA did a similar type of questionairre, tho Waaaaaaaaay more involved, and the stats derived from this enterprise were very interesting & I'm sure helpful. It's neat to find out stats on, income, pool table ownership, cues, home ownership, married or not, and such, it gives the mfg and us as players, a clearer picture of the play side market and its relationship to the true home market.
