Here is a positive post for the forum. I am sure this won't be a surprise to people who know him.

This weekend my wife and I were visiting NYC and stopped by Amsterdam to check out the pro stop for the Predator Tour.

I have seen Tony Robles all over You Tube and such, but never talked to him. My wife and I were awkwardly hanging around the table where he was standing, trying to find a way to get over to say hi to him.

He saw us, and instantly called us over to talk. He is the NICEST guy,, he actually took quite a bit of time from what he was doing and engaged both me and my wife in conversation.

Both my wife and I walked away talking about how nice he was and I am looking forward to going back to NYC to take some lessons from him.

I just wanted to say this publicly.

Great guy.

Tim...Tony is a class act in every possible way...a great teacher, a great promoter, and a top flight tournament competitor! His wife Gail is a breath of fresh air too! Definitely one of pool's #1 power couples!

Tony is a magnificent player and an even better man.

In his PBT days, he was voted Sportsman of the Year twice by his fellow players. He is a member of a winning Mosconi Cup team. He is also a great instructor.

He'll be a fantastic Mosconi captain one day.

Early 90's or so was first time i saw Tony-Never had a chance to talk to him or really didnt want to bother him. So anyway 1-2 years later I see him win a match and 5 minutes later he walks by me- I say "good shooting". I figure he is going to MAYBE say thanks which is more than what most pros would say to a stranger and keep walking. He stops and we have a 5 min conversation starting on his match and then moving on to other things.

Being the social klutz i am, i never told him my name. On about the 3rd time i talked with him he apologized for forgetting my name- I told him and he never forgot it even though i may only see him 2 times a year or less. Excellent guy-as good as they come.

Gee something's never change! Tony is what every pool player should strive to be like while playing in a match or not. Somehow I think him and that Derek Jeter guy are related and that's not coming from a Yankee fan. Class people all the way

I second every nice comment made about Tony Robles! A fine Man with a good heart. I greatly value his friendship! :thumbup2:

I don't know whether Tony follows this forum or not, but if he does I want to say hello. This is Johnson from New York. I last saw you on 9/11 at US Open. I was staking Keith Bennett playing Frankie.Hernandez.

People are saying here exactly what I have always seen in you since you were a kid. But want all of those that don't know it, your father, Tony Sr., class act and every bit as nice as you are. I haven't seen you for a while but often think about your dad. How is he doing? That small pool hall in Brooklyn produced a number of terrific players.

I've never met Tony I don't think. I'm from N.Y but use to drink a lot, so memory is a little fuzzy on many nights back then. I have never heard a bad word said about him, and I've never heard him say a bad word about anyone while in the booth or getting interviewed. Johnnyt

He is absolutely a great guy. I have taken two lessons from Tony and both times he went well over the scheduled times and it was money well spent. Like someone up above mentioned, his wife Gail is a great lady as well. Super nice peeps.
