$10,000 -$15,000.00 Straight Pool Match

Some additional info coming down the pike. Seems that Mika may want to play some eight ball, some 9 ball, some ten ball, some one pocket and some straight pool. Whassup wid dat?

More info to follow.. Oh yeah, Mika will be going to Finland for a couple of weeks but that won't eliminate the fire the two newbie stake horses have. They will wait until Mika gets back.

So what's the line on the rotational games?

BTW, did any of the BIG MONEY stake horses on AZ say they would back John Schmidt? I've got to think that somebody out there is willing to back Schmitty. My God, he's Mr. 403!

An all-around sounds even better, and I still think it would be very close but I'd still pick Mika.

If they just play straight pool the winner should play Thorsten

What I'd like to see is a match-up like Mosconi used to do. Say 500-point blocks in 20 different cities, first to 10,000 points wins. They could sell tickets at each stop - yeah!

Is this going to be a TAR thing?

I'd love to see it here.

Pete

Not unless TAR comes to New Orleans. This match is part of the recovery effort of New Orleans from Americans all over the world. Katrina still has us reeling.

Pushout...I disagree with you. Take running, for example...you have the 100 yd dash, at one end of the spectrum; and a 26 mile marathon, at the other end. Both are races. The same is true in any pool game. The length of the game does not determine whether or not it is a race.

Games like 9 ball and 10 ball and even One Pocket are played to a certain number of racks to win. Straight Pool is played to a certain number of balls. If you've played the game, you know that is certainly is not a race, when the game, to 100, 125, or even 150 or more, can take much longer than the even "long" races to 13 or 15. Just shows how much 9 ball has permeated the pool culture with the term "race" applying to games other than the short rack games.

Location doesn't mean anything to us as long its big enough, the internet connection is sufficient and we are not stuck $2000 before we walk in the door.

I spoke with John last week about some matches we were trying to put together one of which he was already staked for. He mentioned that he was busy with some things outside of pool right now and wasn't looking to play any big matches soon.

If he changes his mind and all parties involved want TAR to be in the mix we would be happy to talk about it. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Huh? Outside of pool? What could it be? I know he likes the MX scene, but that can't be it. Is he headed for the UFC with Joe Rogan? Does he have a SAG card so he can start acting? For real, what could he have going on? ...he's a pool player.

You are pretty good. You guessed all three. Look for the movie in 2010.

Where is my buddy JoeL from Baton Rouge?
I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking a piece of John
Schmidt's action.

Not being a short rack game, Straight Pool is not a race.

The expression, "short rack" is being used as an adjective and therefore should be hyphenated (short-rack).

Bob C--hate to be the grammar police but couldn't help myself.
