$10,000 added in Phoenix area

Mike, this is awesome. I am not sure how many people on here understand how hard it is to get something like this together. Getting a hotel/resort that does not have a casino to put up money is amazing and hopefully a facility that can be used over and over again. PLEASE lets all try and support not only Mike but the Carefree resort also and maybe they will do some more things down the road.

We will have 2 fairly big events here in the Phoenix area that month and I know the people who are behind them will make them a success. This is something that Phoenix needs to try and begin to patch up the black eye we got with the Bobbitt deal.

Anyway, I will be there if not to play but to support and make a few donations to the beer tent :) Good luck Mike and let me know if there is anything I can do.

That's awesome.

I remember one year at the Dust-Off, Jimmy "I'm a semi-retired lamb killer extraordinaire" Mendoza beat Elvis Presley pretty deep in the field . It was quite a sight to behold. Maybe this will bring Mr. Mendoza out of the woodwork (or should I say 'off the bike trails').

Ray

I remember it too....

I doubt we could run a calcutta since it is the Arizona liquor board that deems them illegal. The Carefree Resort sells alcohol and would be bound by the same rules.

Wish there was some way around it.

Bobbitt has been seen around again lately. And he still owes us money. Probably a good thing I can't go to this event. If I ran into him it might get ugly.

Nice to see the game being promoted in Phoenix. Will let the Montana boys know --- maybe a little warm but with added money I don't think it will matter.

Where in Montana are you at? I spent my High School years in Missoula, and my Step-Dad is from Ronan.

I already posted this in the tourney announcement forum, but I wanted it to be discussed by the regulars as this will be an AzBilliards event.

Looking for ideas on additional things we can do with this event. Maybe an AzBers only event on Thursday? Maybe a Midnight Madness on Friday night?

Mike,

Congrats to you for pulling this off.

I saw on your flyer that you will have twenty 7' Diamond tables.

What is the chance of getting a couple of extra 9' Diamonds for action tables in between rounds? That way players who have been eliminated may stick around for a little side entertainment. With the stated prize money I would imagine a few "action junkie" heavy hitters may well be in attendance.

Heck that might even be enough to ease my reluctance to play on the 7' tables and break out my "bar box" stroke!

Thanks.

Bernie Pettipiece.

I am 7 miles south of Ronan east of Ninepipes. I see you are in Arizona. I spent 55 years in Phoenix area (except for several years "tramping" when construction was bad in Arizona). Who is your step dad? Does he play pool?

My Step-Dad never played pool, but his step-Dad was in the community center in Ronan playing all the time until he started going blind and moved to Logan, Ut.

My Step-Dad's name is Joe McBride, and lived here in AZ now, and my grandpa is Richard Robinson.

There is a very good possibility of this Bernie. I'm trying to get 1 or 2 thrown on the truck for the Southwest Tournament the week before (They are having 40 barboxes). I think the idea of some sort of challenge match and stream is still a possibility during the southwest tourney. Maybe we can get Angel and Tina to finally get that match going that was talked about a few months back.
