Bob I am fully aware of that. I am playing my opponent and the table. I know my opponent will take the jumpshot. What the snooker commentators would label a shot to nothing.Under WPA (and CSI) rules of 10 ball, a call of "safe" it has no effect on the shot. If you pocket a ball but not the ball and pocket you called, your opponent has the option of having you shoot again. The two rule sets are worded differently, but the result is the same.
Your opponent is going to jump at the two and then try to shoot the three? Or hope to get safe? There is no way I wouldn't be giving the table back to you.Bob I am fully aware of that. But you aren't my opponent.Your opponent is going to jump at the two and then try to shoot the three? Or hope to get safe? There is no way I wouldn't be giving the table back to you.
I'm curious, who is this guy?But you aren't my opponent.
Hell, I am the type!My safe is basically a pushout. I can get a good jump/hit from there but..
You guys assume my opponent can make a great shot. I know they will probably get a good hit but hopefully give me a opportunity to play a lockdown safety. They may disrupt the whole table.
They have a jump cue and are going to use it. Perhaps you know the type.
That's a ball in hand foul.I assume this is right after the break.....If so...I am calling push.....Ideally leaving the CB stuck to the end rail...and using the 8 to pocket the 1 and hopefully wedge up against the 3 off angle so the combo does not go...extra insurance against a fluke made jump shot with a view of the 3..........If my opponent jumps at it he really won't get a shot.....IF he/she makes me jump at it...I am looking for a jump safe for an opportunity later to out maneuver.
It's not clear what you are referring to. It is legal to pocket balls on a push out. That's a ball in hand foul.
Against a lot of players, this is a viable strategy. Some players are reckless, overrate their jumping, and foul a lot while doing so. Id rather watch them attempt this jump shot than do it myself. If I call safe, i’m giving them an opportunity to make a mental mistake and go for it. Even if they don’t select this option, I’m no worse off than if I didn’t call safe. No downside. You are froze to the 9. Can only hit 3/4 of the 1. I know my opponent will take the jumpshot I am going to leave them rather then trying to blast.my way to a clear hit.
The 2 ball.

Maybe i didn't understand his shot selection freeze the cue ball. Then use the 8 to pocket the 1.It's not clear what you are referring to. It is legal to pocket balls on a push out.
Regardless it is not right after the break. I broke dry my opponent hung the 1.
Well, if his opponent is confused by the call of "safe" he might think that it's his turn to shoot and he has no option. In that case if you pocket a ball (calling safe) the incoming player has option........
Yeah not knowing the rules seems to be a common occurrence.Well, if his opponent is confused by the call of "safe" he might think that it's his turn to shoot and he has no option.![]()
What about simply not calling? Would you need Hoang refereeing?Under WPA (and CSI) rules of 10 ball, a call of "safe" it has no effect on the shot. If you pocket a ball but not the ball and pocket you called, your opponent has the option of having you shoot again. The two rule sets are worded differently, but the result is the same.
This. Good chances I would do a similar blast against most opponents … I like my chances better with a blast than with a jump … Though against a reckless/low skilled player who cannot resist a hero shot, I might do the “make ball, call safe” idea of the OP. This is especially true if I believe BIH for me is the likely result .In that case if you pocket a ball (calling safe) the incoming player has option........So I am not going to "blast" it...but I am going to call the one and hit it "smooth hard" to get the CB out enough to see the 2 and play a safe from there....
