Playing call shot 10 ball if you make your called ball AND the 10 ball on the same shot does the 10 spot because you didn't call it or is that a win? Got in a big argument over this in a tourney where my opponent said it counts but I said it spots. Who's right?
 
Unfortunately 10-ball, like many other pocket billiard games, does not necessarily use a "world standardized" set of rules in each and every event. I've already seen at least three different set of rules in 10-ball streams in the past year. Why didn't you just call the tournament director over to your table for a rule clarification? IMO it should spot up since it wasn't the called shot. But what about if the seven-ball had been made after your opponent called and made the six-ball? Would the seven-ball have been spotted? Probably not. So, why does the ten ball spot up? Some rules just make no sense at all.

Why in the hell pool can't get a SINGLE set of rules WORLDWIDE for ALL games that uses common sense as a starting point is beyond me. It sure would cease a LOT of arguments!!!

Coz you can't win unless the 10 is on the table?

Same as knocking a ball off the table in 9b, only if it is the 9 does it get brought back.

1.) The 10-ball was no longer on the table because it "may" have been (depending on what the rules were for this particular tourney) legally pocketed.

2.) A ball getting "knocked-off" a table is very much different than one going into a pocket. And....in nine-ball, if a person is shooting another ball, hits the legal object ball first and makes the 9-ball, game over. So imo, it's best to not drag nine-ball into a ten-ball discussion.

Not a ten ball player but think if ball is knocked off table in rotation games, it is a foul and incoming player has choice of spot it or leave it down. Eliminates balls being spotted specifically to interfere with other shots.
 
The tournament just switched from 9 ball to 10 ball so the rules werent very clear and the tournament director assumed that it would play just like 9 ball. But after some convincing he did end up agreeing with me. By the way, here in Japan 10 ball is played with the rule that if you fluke a ball your opponent has the option to give the shot back to you, even if you called a safety. And there is no option on a simple missed shot.
