If everyone in your tourney understands the 9-ball rules, why not just use the same rules only add the 10-ball to the rack?

Actually, using caps when posting/iming/texting, etc. is considered yelling. I don't think anyone here means to deviate from your actual question but for many online, your caps are a bit distracting.

Seriously! he seems kind wierd, like the old guy in the park who feeds the squirrels all day and seems harmless until one day the police discover 72 human skulls in his basement :D :D :D

....I think I will just sit back & the rest of the forum take it from here. Honestly, I was trying to be nice to the guy & letting him know that caps are not appropriate. Take a look around at all other posts.

Wow, I think COLLECTIONGURU is back with a new alias.

Mr Stick8, as was already politely pointed out to you, it is considered yelling, and rude to type in all capital letters. Furthermore, the vast majority of people find it to be a strain on the eyes to read more than a word or two in all capital letters.

With that in mind, if you continue to do so anyway, I do not think that your questions will be warmly received. You wouldn't want to intentionally irritate people would you?

In giving the benefit of the doubt, to answer your question, you can use any set of 9 ball rules and apply them to 10 ball without a problem as several others have pointed out. Just substitute the words "9 ball" with "10 ball" wherever they may come up in the rules.

Dude!

We're trying to tell you here that you are acting in a rude manner by typing in all caps. How about you just say sorry for offending and then you stop typing in all caps? Isn't that a bit easier and more civilized than escalating the offensive behavior?

MM...why can't we just all get along?!?

I wonder if any of the posters that stepped up and pointed out to 'stick8' that all-CAPS posting is considered 'wrong', would do the same at a pool hall with someone that is irritating you?

Why does 'all caps' bother you enough that you have to reply to a person's post and tell them (for all to see) that there is a problem with this? do you think you are helping them? if so, why not a PM with your concerns? do you think you are speaking for all the forum members? you're wrong, you are not speaking for me.

stick8,
your post is OK with me and probably 90% of all the posters in this forum.
I sure hope your 10 Ball tournament is a success. At least you won't have AZ forum members at the tournament telling you how to run it...

Tom,

Well my post, for one, was really in response to his responses, but YES all caps bothers ME very much. I read them with a YELLING in my head and it is unpleasant. Stick8, it's really not that hard to type without all caps and everyone (oops) I would appreciate it.

And yes I will go up to someone that is not behaving well in the pool hall and ask them to stop. Did it recently with a group of youngsters who were loud and cursing. Asked them nicely to please respect the others around them and keep the language clean and lower the volume. Guess what ?!? They apologized and behaved better. You'd think someone who has been around for a while would be as or more courteous.

No I am not trying to speak for everyone (not even 90% like you are). Just me.

And to get back on topic, the OP was a little bit confusing. Seems to me he is talking about a ring game and NOT a tournament. Which is it?

MM...ALL CAPS IS OFFENSIVE!!:)

Mike, I expected your reply and hoped you would admit to doing this in public.
I too, often, walk up to perfect strangers and politely offer the correct action(s).

But I don't yell at them loud enough for everyone in the pool hall to hear me.

How else are the newbies to learn?

But stick8 is not a newbie. ALL CAPS isn't much different that having to listen to badly broken english being spoken in the local convienence store. It comes with the territory... You have to be able to deal with it.... and in most cases, we are mature enough to 'deal with it'

Typing in all caps is a form of laziness, imo... nothing more... nothing less... and people who do it should expect some flack. Maybe they don't care... maybe they do.

On the other hand, if someone let out an extremely loud fart in the middle of a quiet tournament room, would anyone say something to the person? Maybe, maybe not, but regardless, it is going against the common etiquette in our culture.

OK, weird analogy, but my point is that it doesn't do any favors to the person to ignore it. It's better to let them know what is considered proper etiquette.

Tom, you are right that a PM would minimize risk for embarrassment. On the other hand, maybe others who weren't aware of it will be glad to have read it on the open board.

Stick, many of us understand that you didn't realize about the Caps thing, so don't worry about it.

Now you know, and I hope my post isn't offensive. I mean no harm. The posters aren't making it up. It is considered akin to yelling and can be hard to read. Of course, I do not claim to be speaking for 100% of the people on the internet.

For what it's worth...

P.S. Whether you turn off the caps or not, I still wish you luck with your tournament. ;)

I don't know what 10 ball rules you are talking about, same as 9 ball with an extra ball, as far as I know. There have been a lot of posts recently about changing the rules for both, to make both games more offensive in strategy. Far as I know, there has been nothing official, anywhere.
If you have trouble seeing what you type, you may want to change the font in your computer to make it easier to see for you and still not offend other posters.
