I wonder if any of the posters that stepped up and pointed out to 'stick8' that all-CAPS posting is considered 'wrong', would do the same at a pool hall with someone that is irritating you?
Why does 'all caps' bother you enough that you have to reply to a person's post and tell them (for all to see) that there is a problem with this? do you think you are helping them? if so, why not a PM with your concerns? do you think you are speaking for all the forum members? you're wrong, you are not speaking for me.
stick8,
your post is OK with me and probably 90% of all the posters in this forum.
I sure hope your 10 Ball tournament is a success. At least you won't have AZ forum members at the tournament telling you how to run it...
On the other hand, if someone let out an extremely loud fart in the middle of a quiet tournament room, would anyone say something to the person? Maybe, maybe not, but regardless, it is going against the common etiquette in our culture.
OK, weird analogy, but my point is that it doesn't do any favors to the person to ignore it. It's better to let them know what is considered proper etiquette.
Tom, you are right that a PM would minimize risk for embarrassment. On the other hand, maybe others who weren't aware of it will be glad to have read it on the open board.
Stick, many of us understand that you didn't realize about the Caps thing, so don't worry about it.
Now you know, and I hope my post isn't offensive. I mean no harm. The posters aren't making it up. It is considered akin to yelling and can be hard to read. Of course, I do not claim to be speaking for 100% of the people on the internet.
For what it's worth...

P.S. Whether you turn off the caps or not, I still wish you luck with your tournament.
