You're probably not looking for advice, but here is what I'd recommend for anyone who actually is:As some may realize I had new Apple Green Simonis 860 put on the Gold Crown IV a couple of weeks ago. The last two days I have been doing nothing but racking and breaking racks of 9-Ball. After the first ten or so breaks with either nothing down, no shot, or both I decided to keep track.
The final numbers the last two days are 107 breaks and only 6 chances to run out. And yes, I realize Efren might have had maybe ten chances to run out. But that was it.
And to answer any questions:
1) Yes, I've had the dehumidifier running.
2) Yes, I've changed CB positions.
3) Yes, I've changed speeds.
4) Yes, I've changed CBs.
5) Yes, I am using a template.
This type of futility just ruins my enthusiasm for the game.

1. There are two balls, whose position never change in a 9 ball rack, the 9 and the 1. Since the 9 shouldn't move much with a template rack, and trying to pocket it with the cueball is low percentage, that leaves one ball, over which you have complete control, the one.
2. You should have a good shot at the 1 a high percentage of the time, if you are any kind of 9 ball player at all. Sometimes you get kicked or blocked by an object ball, but every time you are breaking, you are practising controlling the one ball. You have thousands upon thousands of chances to perfect it.
3. In Europe, the federation is constantly changing break rules, with boxes 3 points rules and all sorts of stupid stuff. Every year, it's something different. But no matter how much they f around there is always the one thing, the one is in the same place in the rack. This means you get thousands of chances to perfect it.
4. If all else fails, and you can't make another ball, you can always try to pocket the one. Again, thousands of chances to perfect.
5. Your percentage of "runnable racks" is unaccaptably low, unless you are counting any difficulty in the layout as making the rack unrunnable.
6. There is one excuse, which is a worn out template. I had that come up when I was trying to beat the 10 ball ghost. 3 or 4 balls would roll together out of the rack and freezing to a rail almost every time. That only happens with broken templates.
7. If you seriously were trying to get more shots, I'd do the following: I'd take 50% off my break and focus only on the cue ball and the one ball. Once I had them on a string, I'd up my power until I could get a ball in the hole on the break and stay there. If I lost the cue ball or the one, I'd take power off again.
8. You won't get a runnable rack every time, it's the nature of the beast. You can however take control over the factors you can influence. As long as you are not doing that, you have no right to complain.
