107 Breaks & 6 Chances

Something's definitely off.

With a template rack and 9-ball, I would've said it's impossible to only make a ball on the break 6 times out of a hundred.

I've never really tracked it, but it feels like I should expect north of 50% on a 9' table and a lot better than that on a bar box...
"The final numbers the last two days are 107 breaks and only 6 chances to run out. And yes, I realize Efren might have had maybe ten chances to run out. But that was it."

Anyway his pattern is to come on here and complain and not respond or listen to anyone, so there is that. He claims to have tried lots of different things, but I don't believe it. Performance this consistently terrible is not possible, unless you are doing something horribly wrong, consistently. Here is Niels with some tips on 9 on the spot breaking with 3 point rule, which is close to the worst case scenario, only missing the break box for a perfectly horrible rule-set. A majority of the pointers can be used for 1 on the spot as well. This is the best tutorial on the break I've ever seen for modern rule sets, he even explains how to make adjustments. There really is no excuse for sucking after watching this. Our friend won't listen, though:

It's amazing what a human can accomplish with 100% determination. ;)

Lately on the WNT the players are not putting the cue ball on the extreme side of the box. Many seem to be breaking only a ball or two from the center.

As some may realize I had new Apple Green Simonis 860 put on the Gold Crown IV a couple of weeks ago. The last two days I have been doing nothing but racking and breaking racks of 9-Ball. After the first ten or so breaks with either nothing down, no shot, or both I decided to keep track.

The final numbers the last two days are 107 breaks and only 6 chances to run out. And yes, I realize Efren might have had maybe ten chances to run out. But that was it.

And to answer any questions:
1) Yes, I've had the dehumidifier running.
2) Yes, I've changed CB positions.
3) Yes, I've changed speeds.
4) Yes, I've changed CBs.
5) Yes, I am using a template.

This type of futility just ruins my enthusiasm for the game.

So what were those break-and-run chance stats before you changed the cloth? If anything, with the new cloth, they should have gotten higher, not lower.

FYI,
I never said I only made a ball 6 times out of 107 breaks. I said I either failed to make a ball, had no shot, or both.

The last few days it's gotten a little better.

And for those that posted 20+ year old threads of me commenting - not complaining - about this, yes, they are right. This has usually been a problem on my Gold Crown IV. That's why in the past I have contemplated selling it and getting a Diamond.

It ain't the table. Randy told me that, you know the mechanic you had come recover your table.

This just continues to plague me.

I went down to the table after the St. Louis game was over and broke about 25 racks. I had one (1) chance to run out. And it wasn't easy.

I was watching a Accu-Stats video last night. It was back in the year 2000. Bill Incardona made a comment about the Gold Crown IV being a stingy table. I must have the stingiest one they made.
